Marie was born on the Starbase 9 a pair of crew chief parents. In fact she comes from a long line of crew chiefs that date back 405 years to her great great… Grandfather who was an A-10 “Warthog” Crew Chief. The first in her lineage to receive training at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas.

The first 4 years were difficult for Marie as she was born 75% deaf and therefore learned to lip read and perform sign language to communicate. To combat her inability to communicate she let herself become completely fascinated in tools and things she could manipulate with her hands. She could work a wrench before she could walk, and her first words included “Excelsior”, “Akira” and “Class”. By age 7 she could name most Federation Class ships by sounds heard during docking at Starbase 9.

She had an experimental procedure performed on her inner ears which completely restored her hearing to full use at age 4, but she still tends to read lips as a form of “eavesdropping”. No one knows this fact, but they find it uncanny who she tends to know orders and directives before the anyone else. It’s her own person “head start” system.

Her Middle School Art Project was 1:1 scaled replica of a Wyvern Class intake manifold made from toothpicks, which her father swears she made in her sleep.

Marie didn’t really get along well with most of her school mates because she was what they called a “Rules Maven..” If there was a rule she followed it to the letter, if there wasn’t a standing rule about something she would make attempts to get one published.. In fact, two of her “rules” are now in the Crew Chief SOP guides, for shuttlecraft maintenance.

She entered the SFFC Basic training camp with hopes of one day being the Crew Chief of a Federation Galaxy Class vessel one day and decided she’d do whatever it took to that end. She didn’t realize the physical requirements of basic would be so hard so often struggled in PC (Physical Conditioning). She loved the classes about regulations and rules, didn’t like the PC, but all in all she lost 15 lbs during the 8 week course.

Next she went to her family’s “Alma Matter” at Sheppard where she was the star of her class academically, but still a social pariah due to her complete lack of flexibility in regards to rules.

Upon Graduation she was assigned to her dream ship, the USS Galaxy as a Technician Apprentice. It was the start of her ambition to be a Crew Chief. Always a quick study she performed her duties with perfect attention to detail, often putting in much longer hours then other technicians.

She was moving through the ranks well when an incident involving a pilot got her demoted (see reprimands). This didn’t stop her ambitions as she got right back into her duties and soon found her self as the Flight Chief for Saber Squadron, and her eyes set on the top job.

Marie is an ambitious perfectionist. She treats each ship in her flight like it was her own child and spends more time with them then she does with other people. Even when she’s off duty she is usually in her quarters reading about ships specs or building models of ships or ship parts.

She doesn’t speak much when in public unless someone needs a rule or regulation clarification on something, and if you ask for any Class Ship Specs she turns into a verbal encyclopedia and will often keep talking after the original requestor (and everyone nearby) has already walked away.

Her goal is to one day be the Galaxy’s Crew Chief, everyone knows it, even the current Chief who respects and nurtures her desire because as he says “he’s getting to old for this $#!+.”
