Nyssa’s parents were explores who traveled the deep inner core of the galaxy, as a result Nyssa fell in love with the thrill of meeting and exploring new places. She became gifted at a very young age with an understanding of language and learning how to observe other cultures, her parents encouraged her interest in these other cultures and took her along on many of there adventures.

When her parents left the Hapen Cluster to return to the Federation she felt as if the universe had turned in on it’s self, Nyssa loved talking with the local people in their own language and playing with her friends. She always knew that the day would come when they returned to where her mother said was home. Nyssa was 15 years old when she left the world she knew as home, earth was a stranger to her and yet another exciting adventure.

For three years Nyssa studied to catch up on the things she had missed out on her education while her parents taught at various universities around the world. She passed her formal education with high marks in math, language, political science and biology.

She later applied and gained entry into a Political degree course which completely changed the way she viewed the world and all those that interacted with it. Nyssa’s life became even busier when she added interstellar law to her studies, this change alone meant she spent most of her days and nights studying to keep on top of the work load.

She admittedly never had too many friends in her first year of study, her time and energy spent of completing the endless series of assignments, tasks and hours of homework which made a social life non existent. But as she progressed through the course the workload became lighter during the semesters and she was able to start exploring the city in which she lived.

At the end of her second year she passed her two courses and applied to be considered into a doctorate in language. She was accepted into the course and for the next 5 years she studied various forms of language, it’s histories, development and analysis of unknown languages. She left the University at the end of 2370 and was immediately employed by the United Federation of Planets as an associate law advisor. Her job was to assist the United Federation of Planets in civilian legal matters, this included appearing in court and assisting lawyers in prosecution or defense depending on the issue.

Nyssa only spent two years as an associate before she was given an opportunity to travel, the ship was called the Osprey, the vessel merely nothing more than a small deep range explorer large enough to crew 7 people.

Her job was as the Federation’s Liaison, making sure that Federation law was followed, handling cultural issues and representing the Federation to non Federation planets. Her stay on the ship and the two years roughing it in the small confines of the Osprey taught her many lessons, one of which was not being afraid to get dirty.

Her time on the Osprey sealed her fate and upon returning to earth she applied to become a Starfleet Officer. Nyssa found herself within a short time studying at Star Fleet Academy, her class structure was mainly the same except when it came to the more specific courses on Diplomacy, Law, First Contact procedures.

She excelled in these classes mainly due to the fact that while written differently the information was the same as she had learnt in university. By the third year she was focusing on the Diplomatic Corps of the United Federation of Planets, her goal was obtained when she graduated in 2378 as an Ensign.

She was immediately offered an assignment as a Professor of Interstellar Law at Star Fleet Academy, yet the one problem was the fact that she was still only an ensign. The situation changed when she was appointed, Nyssa was made an acting Lt waiting upon official promotion from Star Fleet Command.

The position was made due to recent hostilities with the Dominion and the shortage of Diplomatic Personnel within the Federation. Her promotion came through in 2379 and in later 2381 she applied and was accept for a transfer to the USS Galaxy as the First Contact Officer.

She is currently studying to gain her Security Qualification.

Nyssa is a very determined, open person who is not bound by the law books she has studied. When confronted with a problem she resorts to talk, diplomacy and then using the law to get around the situation.

Nyssa has never been in one on one fight or a space battle, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t know how to fight or protect herself. While she studied in Adelaide she learnt how to use both two handed and single handed medieval swords, a hobby she takes a keen interest in.

Nyssa is calm and collected and always thinks before acting, her love for exploring new space, new cultures and studying ancient languages always has her excited.
