When Electra went to a college, so did he. When she joined the Academy, he followed suit. She never really noticed he was there and by the time they graduated, Cam had given up on her. He took the medical track and accepted an assignment that separated him from her for the first time in decades.On the Regal, Cam worked his way up to Lieutenant and Chief Medical Officer. He saved the lives of the command crew, the rest of the medical staff and a colony the ship was orbiting when an outbreak of plasma plague occurred. He almost died, as well. His brush with death caused him to rethink his rejection of his feelings for Electra and he put in for a transfer to her ship (the USS Galaxy) and her department (Operations). But when he arrived, she had been injured and was on her way back to Earth in a coma.

After the Galaxy was de-commissioned, Cam took another deep space assignment. He couldn’t bear to see his love in pain. He served with distinction and regained some of the rank he had lost with his original transfer to the Galaxy.
