Born as one of many Starfleet
Brats during the new 'family on board 'policy on starships, James spent
most of his life on Starships, making him one of the many second age space
boomers. He was also born into a family of dedicated musicians, entertainers, vagabonds and rogues. His father was a tactical officer on the USS Calgary, and his mother a science officer. Both were musicians and songwriters. Much of Corgan’s musical talent came from his family’s upbringing. His father went to slave driver proportions to teach his son and daughter Courtney how to be musicians and keep up the family tradition. At one point, the Corgans even had a folk band, but that was broken up as soon as James and Courtney moved on. During these years, the constant practices and the father’s constant pushing bred resentment in the two Corgan siblings. The only time they had any fun was their annual hunting trips on Earth. Later on however, James Corgan moved away from the USS Odyssey, the last ship the Corgan family lived onboard. Against his parent’s wishes, he signed up for Starfleet Academy and passed his first test. Though somewhat cocky, he was a bright student who tried his hardest. But all that was about to change during the downswings of his life. First, the USS Odyssey was ambushed in the Gamma Quadrant, killing his parents in the process. Then, his girlfriend was caught cheating with five different men, and that caused a fight between him and her ex-boyfriend. And when Corgan was trying to escape the insanity of his life by signing onto a cadet cruise, the Second Borg Invasion occurred, setting off a traumatic experience that shaped his personality for years to come. He had difficulty settling into regular life after the Borg incident, even with the support of a few close friends and the creation of his first music album. He was then assigned to the USS Thunderchild, the same ship he was on board during the Borg incident. From there, he fought in the Dominion War, taking part in starship boarding and planetary invasions. During the advance on Cardassia, the Thunderchild was badly damaged, injuring James and leaving him in physiotherapy for months. Afterwards, he was transferred to the USS Galaxy, first as a security officer, then an operations officer. There, he meet Lieutenant Electra Reece and pursued a romantic relationship. He was later promoted to Chief of Operations after she was injured during one of the Galaxy’s missions. When the USS Galaxy underwent repairs, James Corgan also underwent an upgrade of sorts in his skills. Signing up for Advanced Tactical and Security Training, he received the Tactical Merit Award during the Wolf 359 Sim, where he used a reckless but selfless tactic to cripple the Borg Cube. That scenario earned him top honors in the Advanced Tactical and Security Training program, and he graduated in the top 5. For his practicum, he transferred onto the Federation Border Cutter BPC-2872 as a Liaison Officer, but upon receiving a notice from Fleet Admiral Nakamura, he traveled to Utopia Planetia shipyards, anticipating a transfer. He was then transferred to the USS Galaxy where he serves as its Chief Security Officer. |

Calmed down after years of
fighting and personal struggle, James has become a wiser and more learned
individual. He is a hard worker, often putting in overtime to get the job
done. He also trained harder in his fields of expertise in order to keep
up with the caliber of friends he had worked beside (Commander Von Ernst
and Commander Hawksley). He has a drive that is hard to beat.
Though sometimes hit by fits of depression, James can sometimes be an upbeat, passionate, and hopeful person. A life of trials taught him to have some optimism about the universe around him. When the going gets tough, he holds his ground and fights, not willing to compromise an inch of ground unless he had to, and sometimes he doesn’t. Thinks nothing of sacrificing himself for others. Loves to help out others, though he sometimes tries to hard to gain the approval of his friends. Tends to also be reckless in desperate situations, using risky tactics and ideas as last resorts. He is a great musician and adept at playing the electric guitar. He has created two albums already with a band called “The Lost Souls” |
