The early years... Richard North was born in San Francisco, Earth on July 20, 2341, his parents moved to Rilar Colony when he was a child. Rilar Colony was founded on rules of law and order, justice while swift, was fair. Richard took an interest in politics at a young age. Unfortunately though, life was very harsh at the Colony and Richard does not care to discuss his early years with people. Fill the Steins to Dear Old Maine... When he was eighteen he went to Earth to study Political Science and Public Management at the University of Maine in Orono on a Starfleet ROTC scholarship. He was awarded an athletic scholarship as well for hockey, however he turned it down but made an agreement that he would play on the team. Coach Thompson agreed that would be the best thing for him. Richard excelled in his classes and at sports, playing on the school hockey team as the center and later on was promoted to team captain, where they won four back-to-back titles during his time. His Freshman and Senior year he was named the Frozen Four MVP. The day he graduated from college he received his commission in Starfleet Richard's biggest regret from college was not getting involved enough. Sure, he was on the hockey team, on student senate, but he never felt he was involved enough with charitable groups even though he spent two spring breaks volunteering with children with terminal illnesses. Richard took distance courses during his tours of duty in Starfleet to earn a Masters of Public Policy, and a Doctorate in Political Science. Starfleet Career... *Classified* Commander (ret.) Richard North's Starfleet career, other than the time spent as an aide to Admiral Shepard and his involvement with the Lexington Minutemen Strike Team in which he received his Starfleet Medal and his final purple hearts, are classified due to the highly sensitive nature of his career in the intelligence field. *Post Starfleet* In 2374 Richard ran for an uncontested seat in the Federation Senate and won with 54% of the vote. As a campaign promise he agreed that if he won election that year, in 2380 he would not seek re-election for one term, and would instead devote 2 years to the Diplomatic Corps to better educate himself on the issues. Another promise is that he would run for office for a different seat in the Senate in 2382, if he felt that he was educated enough on the issues. Senator North is not married. |

Richard has a habit of being very blunt with people. Some view it as a lack of tact, however, that is not the case, Richard calls things as he sees them and makes no attempt to be dishonest about things. He's a very emotional person, emotional as in he is passionate with his views and beliefs. He's very thoughtful and will ask the advice and opinions of others before making a decision.
North has several scars on his body, one on his chin from a knife fight he was in, and three on his torso, one is from a surgery as a child, and the other two are combat related.
