Born to the parents, Juan Sanchez Xerx and Nara Xerx, both committed Starfleet officers, Miranda was born to be a Starfleet officer, in due time. Miranda was born on the starship, now known has her father s starship, the USS Mustang. Born to a Betazoid mother, and a Hispanic human father, Miranda was born into a slightly confusing relationship, were both believe in different gods, to this day Miranda is unsure as to how her parents managed to stay together, other than Juan being her mother's Imzadi, their relationship was still quite confusing. Nara Xerx was a strong woman, a woman with many gifts. Miranda was 3, when her mother died. Doctors were unsure of the type of flue that struck Nara shortly after a planet side away mission. Believing that she came in contact with some type of plant life, and had an odd reaction to it. Her sudden illness, and death hit Miranda s father, Juan, rather hard, though Miranda was far to young to remember much.

Juan had his daughter tutored by a Betazoid female, named Iza, giving Miranda someone to communicate with about her Betazoid blood, a teacher for her telepathic and empathy abilities, as well as a teacher for basic education till her high school years. Miranda learned quickly, and fast for a child of her age. She picked up on things that must children her age would be bored with. Though she lacked in her telepathic areas, she was strong in her empathy abilities. Her tutor showed Miranda the many traditions of the Betazoid culture. Iza would not allow Miranda, once she was able to communicate telepathically, to speak to her with Miranda s voice, but had to speak mentally. When Miranda hit twelve, Juan believed his daughter to be ready for high school, though she was a year early, which surprised him as much as the school in San Antonio. Juan had been remarried for two years now, and was trying to bring his position on the Mustang to a better standing, as well as take care of his wife, and found himself cutting his time short with his most loved thing, his daughter. Wanting her to be happier, and not wanting her trapped on a starship as a child, he sent her to Earth, with her tutor, Iza. Iza continued to help Miranda with her mental gifts, as well as Betazoid traditions, and also give Miranda something familiar as she moved.

Miranda enjoined her time in San Antonio, though she missed her father tones, he had come to see her whenever he was on leave. Though the distance was hard on the two, Miranda was Juan s memory of his wife, and life joy, and Juan was Miranda s only parent, nothing could keep the two from bounding over the tough years. Though the female held the blood of both her parents, and was tutored by a Betazoid female, she showed more signs human than Betazoid. Growing up on Earth brought out her human personalities, and curiosity. Miranda had a love for travel, and was curious about different species, she never fully let herself become more human than Betazoid, but she couldn't help liking her father s world, than her mother s world, which was surrounded by traditions. She was sixteen, when she finished high school. The child was smart, and wanted more education. Though, she wished to join Starfleet, and be in space with her father, Miranda first attended a University in New York, before she enrolled in the Starfleet Academy, in San Francisco. Miranda had a gift for speaking languages, and fitting in wherever she traveled.

Eighteen, and ready to begin her career in Starfleet, Miranda enrolled in Starfleet, and chose medical as her goal. Knowing from personal experience of the dislike for doctors around the galaxy, Miranda hoped with her people skills, she would be able to change that, for at least the crew of the ship she would serve on. Top of her class throughout most of her education, teachers believed the young cadet was born for medical. Visiting her father, and little brother when she could, Miranda made her main focused Starfleet. After four years on earth, and two on mars, Miranda graduated with her Ph.D. in medicine. Her first ship, to test these skills, was the USS Ireland.

2377
Finding out quickly that other species on the Ireland did not take to her empathic abilities to well, Miranda found it slightly difficult to gain her patients trust, without them worrying about her prodding around in their minds, and their feelings. Her ability to feel ones emotions, desires, and wants came naturally to Miranda, and she was quite uncomfortable around the species that she was not able to understand, emotionally, so there wasn't a way for her to just stop her empathic gifts, so the new doctor was beginning to wonder if she meant to be in Starfleet. Patients finding little trust in the woman, she was worried that her goal of helping people over come their fears of doctors was not only going to come true, but was making things worse for patients. After her first year on the Ireland, two other Betazoids had joined the ship s crew, and Miranda was able to relax some. After her second year, crewmembers started trusting the half Betazoid female, and by her third year many trusted her. Miranda was a brave woman, though she naturally disliked war, and preferred not to use violence, she was found to be one not to back down when stressful times came around, and even proved to be loyal to the Ireland, ignoring her feelings at time to over come a situation.

2381
A transfer to the USS Galaxy's larger Medical services department became available. This brought more jobs to the young doctor, and fears at the same time. She was quite comfortable with her ship, her life on the Ireland. A fear that she would have to have to go through the same hell, as she likes to call her first few years on the Ireland, on a new ship made Miranda almost reject the offer, almost. Her Chief pointed out that it would only be another challenge she would have to over come, as she had many in her lifetime. Also, that if she were to stay with the Ireland, that she might never get to be ACMO, and it could be years before the transfer, and offer would come back around, so naturally Miranda took it. Placed on Starbase 212 for a short time, helping their sickbay out until the USS Galaxy was finished with her mission.

A social person, Miranda prefers to be in groups of people, then to be alone. Quite easy to get alone with, once people get use to her mental gifts, people tend to be drawn to her. Sweet, Miranda genuinely cares for people, and enjoys helping them. Outgoing, and little spunky at times, she is a fun loving humanoid to be around. Miranda has a respect for life, seeing death really give that to someone. She really isn't an easy person to upset, though she has her temper just like any other humanoid, it just tends to take a little longer to see that side of her, and this tends to annoy some.

Honesty is something that is quite important to the half-breed doctor. Though Miranda has spent little time with other Betazoids, it is still found to be in her blood that she believes in being honest, and dislikes those that are dishonest with her. When around Betazoids, they are able to read her mind, and Miranda has found it pointless to lie when around them, and just finds it pointless to lie to anyone else, since she doesn't want to be lied to. Though she isn't able to read minds, she can still since when something is off, and can tell when someone isn't being completely honest with her. With her honesty, Miranda is quite open about herself, this can sometimes disturb others, making them slightly uncomfortable at times, and unsure how to react. Trying not to come off brutal, or harsh, Miranda knows not everyone is able to take the complete truth, and with her being a doctor, this can cause problems in her profession, so Miranda does her best to sugar coat the truth with some people, though it is almost like lying, Miranda would prefer to coat something, than scare someone.

Odd enough, the officer is known to be stubborn at times. Miranda believes in standing up for what she believes, and doesn't back down to easily, which also follows with her being a passionate person as well. Most find her easy to talk with, with her being in touch with others emotions Miranda believes this helps her connection with her patients, and others outside of sickbay, though this ability also limits some trust others might have towards her. Miranda tries to watch herself around others, not wanting to scare them; she doesn't flaunt her ability to read others, but lets people warm up to it. Being one in control of her emotions, Miranda doesn't take to kindly when they are messed with.

Love is something important to Miranda. Every Betazoid is known to have an Imzadi which translated means something along the lines of beloved and yet there is so much more to it. Betazoids are also known for having the ability to loving more than just one person, without affecting their relationship with their mate. Miranda s belief in trust and honestly keeps her completely devoted to whomever she is with, though the officer has found little experience in the love area, Miranda believes she just hasn't found her Imzadi yet.

Empathic Abilities
Miranda has strong empathic abilities. These senses coming around at an early age brought much worry to her Betazoid teacher, though it turned out all right, Miranda is quite talented in her empathy, and is very strong. This took some time getting use to, and cause many problems growing up, though showing the discipline to learn how to control, the Betazoid pulled through. Learning how to sense a couple people s feelings at the same time, and keep the knowledge of who is who, Miranda is good to have around when trying to figure out if someone is truly your ally. Being of half-breed, and having such strong empathy, Miranda has been able to sense the feelings of the Ferengi, something a full blood Betazoid is not able to do, though Miranda has to be around them for a little while for her to be able to tap in. Miranda is, however, not able to read the Breen, Ullians, or Deopterians.

Telepathic Abilities
Being of only half-breed of the telepaths known as the Betazoid, Miranda finds herself quite weak in the telepathic gifts. Normally, other than those of the Betazoid blood, or a close lover, she finds herself only capable of reading those of weak minds. The young half-breed only tries to read thoughts, if she must. Having no ability whatever-so-ever when it comes to the Ferengi, Breen, Ullians or Deopterians. Though this weakness to this ability is annoying to the young woman, Betazoids are under the Code of Sentience, which keeps Betazoids from reading the thoughts of others outside of the species, unless it is necessary, or that one person has given permission, which does not happen often.

Medical Notes
Miranda has encounter the condition known as the Zanthi Fever among the Betazoid species. A fever, which is known to happen to telepaths, or empaths whose metal block has been broken by someone, or something. This causes a breakdown of the mechanism allowing empathic thoughts to influence surrounding people. Miranda had the Zanthi Fever for only but a couple of days, which seemed much longer to the female. The thoughts of others hounding her mind put much stress on the young woman. This caused a few problems with other crewmembers she worked with, along with loosing some trust with them.

Miranda has different scars removed here and there throughout her life, causing her to have to go in and get a dose of dermatiraelian plasticine every six months to keep the appearance of the scars gone. The doctor has also had her eyes fixed, to where she would not have to wear glasses. Born with a weak right lunge, Miranda has to get this check on about every three months, also to get a dose of medication; the doctor is not allowed to give these doses to herself. One will find that Miranda likes to pretend her lunge is no big deal, though she is a doctor, and knows the risk she takes, she tries to go without the medication, if possible, hating being weak. Miranda has to watch herself, making sure she does not over work herself, not wanting to put much stress on the lunge, being half human half Betazoid, unless putting in a holographic lunge, doctors have not been able to give Miranda a new lunge, and she does not wish to have a holographic one in her, nor does she want to risk removing it and surveying on one.

Counselor Notes
Miranda is quite the sweet, and loving girl as she appears. There seems to be little troubles in the officer's life about her mothers passing. An optimistic woman, with a small temper, there is little need for the doctor to see a counselor on a regular basis, other than the annual scheduling, which all officers go through. Doctor Sanchez is an open book, where the phrase What you see is what you get applies quite while.

-Counselor Victor Garnett, USS Ireland

Special Notes
Miranda has been known to be slightly afraid of animals, and closed in spaces. Also, Miranda prefers to be called Lieutenant Miranda Sanchez. Xerx is her mother s last name. In the Hispanic culture, children take on their father s, father s last name, and their mother s, father s last name. In the Betazoid culture, the men take on their wife s last name, therefore Miranda s full name is; Miranda Xerx Sanchez, though she goes by Miranda Sanchez.

Commander Juan Sanchez Xerx, Captain of the USS Mustang.
Juan is from Mexico. 58 years of age. Highly intelligent man, he has much strength, though when it comes to his daughter he seems to lose the ability to say no. Mother:
Lieutenant Nara Xerx, Once a Counselor of the USS Mustang.
Nara was the mother of Miranda Sanchez Xerx, and the beloved wife of Captain Juan Sanchez Xerx. Nara was a strong Betazoid woman, who believed strongly in the Betazoid traditions. Stepmother:
Lieutenant Commander Elizabeth Sanchez, Chief Security Officer of the USS Mustang.
Elizabeth is a devoted Starfleet officer. 50 years in age. Born in space, she is human female. Elizabeth has been married to Juan for over fifteen years now. A love for her stepdaughter that Elizabeth considers Miranda as her own, though to Miranda she is still considered simply, Elizabeth, this Elizabeth understands, the two still have a close relationship.

Half-Brother:

Stepbrother:
Ensign Gregory Wilkinson, Engineer Officer of the USS Davis Gregory is a devoted officer to Starfleet, much like his mother. 25 years old. Greg and Miranda get along well.
