In 2322, Leronem Risdanach was born into the Ris caste of Efros. The Ris are considered warrior-priests and have been the oligarchs of Efros for millennia. From an early age, the Ris receive military, medical, and religious training. Because of the religious nature of the training, little is known about it. In 2341, Leronem was married to Morinai Risperald. They would have four children; Vesbkin in 2343, Atem and Garoth in 2346, and Rhuon in 2349. Leronem completed his training at the age of 21 standard years, and not having any interest in politics, saw a career in Starfleet as a combat medic a natural choice. Shortly after his Starfleet training and posting to the USS Ahwahnee, the Cardassian Wars began. Corpsman Risdanach saw considerable combat serving aboard the Ahwahnee for six years. In 2351, Corpsman Risdanach was aboard a runabout that was shot down and presumed destroyed at Cardassian occupied Camor VII. However, he and eight comrades had survived and were stranded on the heavily occupied planet. A little over two years later, the remaining six survivors were detected and captured by the Cardassians. Knowing that they had been declared killed in action, the Cardassians were not immediately forthcoming in declaring them POW to the Federation. They were held in a Cardassian labor camp for a year and a half before Starfleet intelligence became aware of their survival and arranged for their release. Leronem found at this point that according the Efrosian custom, a husband had been arranged for his wife shortly after he was declared dead. He has since refused opportunities for remarriage. Following debriefing and medical leave, Leronem was permitted to reenlist with promotion and was accepted into the Starfleet Special Warfare Center. After two years of training, Chief Risdanach joined Special Warfare Team 6, where he served for seven years. His team was engaged primarily in anti-terrorism activities, but was also active in the Tzenkethi War. In 2365, Chief Risdanach accepted an invitation from the newly promoted Chief Medical Officer of the Ahwahnee to become the head of the enlisted medical personnel on the ship. A year later, he the Ahwahnee was decimated in the encounter with the Borg. However, life-support and emergency power were maintained in the sickbay and nearby areas of the ship. It was thus established as the early hub for a medical response in the immediate aftermath of the battle. Chief Risdanach was put in charge of organizing the efforts of all enlisted personnel in the area, and received commendation for his efforts. When the Ahwahnee was repaired and returned to service, Chief Risdanach was promoted to Command Master Chief Petty Officer, responsible for all of the enlisted personnel on the ship. He held this position for five years until the destruction of the USS Ahwahnee in the Second Klingon War. At this point, he was assigned the same position on the newly commissioned USS Redoubtable, which he held for three years until the end of the Dominion War. Following the War, Chief Risdanach accepted the opportunity to receive a commission as a warrant officer while pursuing an advanced degree. He spent the next nine years in a M.D., Ph.D. program specializing in Cognitive Neuropsychiatry and Psychotraumatology. The last three years of this time were spent in internship/residency aboard the Hospitalship USS Panacea. Upon completion of these studies in 2384, he received an officer's commission as an Ensign and was assigned to the USS Galaxy. |

Ensign Risdanach is a fairly amiable old warhorse. He's fairly solemn about his combat experiences, particularly those in which people died. He will only speak of them when he feels the story will teach a lesson, never just to reminisce. He has immediate respect for others who have seen real combat, particularly if it was with him. But it is difficult for those who have not (particularly young officers) to gain his trust and respect. His Ris background means he was both bred and trained to be a leader. This can be an advantage when it is appropriate, but the tendency to take charge can occasionally come across as inappropriate and even insubordinate to a higher-ranked officer. Leronem is a deeply spiritual man, but maintains the customary Efrosian silence about his religious beliefs and customs. He will occasionally seek quiet solitude and it is unwise to interrupt him at these times unless lives are at stake. He treats death with particular reverence, and is familiar with the death rites of many traditions.

Efrosian vision is primarily in the infrared, so Ensign Risdanach carries spectacles with an infrared filter. These render his vision roughly equivalent to that of a completely color-blind human in dimmer light. He has a long, jagged scar running down the left side of his face. It was received during his period MIA, but he will not discuss it or accept medical treatment for it. He has long white hair and long white facial hair at the corners of his mouth. | ||
