Jack Slen was born aboard the USS Melbourne during a refit at Utopia Planetia. In a strange decision, his father, the Ship's CMO Dr. Curzon Slen. They moved to HIs mother, Rebecca's, home town of New York. Curzon retired from service and began teaching Exobiology at Harvard Medical School. Jack always looked up to his father, who's cause he felt was noble. Jack, unfortunately, was mildly bitter throughout most of his life.
In high school, he mouthed off at everybody he felt was an idiot. Being
Blunt and straight forward about it all. While intending to be helpful,
he often just hurt them with his viper's lounge. Jack was extremely disturbed to learn about the Trill trait of carrying Symbiotes, and was extremely relieved that being half human excluded him from every being able to join with one himself. At least his father told him that. Jack distanced himself from his father after discovering that the man he loved as a father was half lumpy mass in the man's abdomen. Yet, Jack studied from directly under his father on the healing of Joined Trill. After graduating from Harvard Medical, Jack instead went into the Medical Research Profession, at the Lake Armstrong Medical Institute. Jack worked there for 2 years before an accident in the lab had him sighted as a Scapegoat. Jack was found not at fault, but was quietly fired. After Jack graduated, Curzon Slen was recalled to service, and accepted. He became the CMO on the NEW USS Melbourne. He fell in battle at Wolf 359. This planted the Seed of Hate in Dr. Slen's mind. Hate for the Borg. In 2372, Jack made a split decision after living with his mother for the the last 2 years, he applied to Starfleet Academy, and was accepted. At the Beginning of the New Semester, Jack shipped off to Starfleet Academy. While there, he had a few of his Medical Classes Accelerated due to his Previous Harvard Medical Experience. He met Klaus Fienberg in the Academy, and Had a new Target for his tough scrutiny. Odd and Rude for an Underclassman. Mostly he kept to himself otherwise. After graduating, he settled for a small Assignment at Starfleet Command as a general practitioner. He was nearly canned for Inadvertently Insulting Admiral Maxwell during a checkup. While Treating Maxwell for a Glandular disorder causing him to be overweight, Jack called him "Bloatman" and told him to take better care of his body. Maxwell misinterpreted. Later, Maxwell lost the weight following Dr. Slen's suggestion, yet gives no credit, calling him a total asshole who doesn't deserve the uniform. Following this, Dr. Slen was transferred to the USS Venture, and served aboard her during the Borg Incursion of 2373. He continued to serve aboard the vessel through the Dominion War, and during the battles of DS9, and Cardassia. In 2376, Jack was transferred to the USS Sturmovik, where he met his Academy Nemesis. Dr. Klaus Fienberg. He stayed there for the next year, as the Ship's Pathologist. He quickly transferred off, and was assigned as the USS Sovereign as the Ship's Assistant CMO. Unfortunately, it ended with a small accident. While trying to save an important Starfleet Diplomat, Jack used the wrong substance.....and killed him. A formal inquiry followed, and Jack was reduced two steps in rank, and transferred to the USS Galaxy. While the Demotion made a little sense, the transfer didn't. "Lord knows what awaits me on that bucket of ****." |

Jack is a hard nosed, hardassed, yet somewhat caring man. Always blunt, straight forward, and offensive. He has no regard for anyone's opinion but his own. He is very sarcastic, with a venomous wit, and the social inability to admit he's wrong. But strangely, most of the time he means well. Jack can be either detached, or aggressive toward Joined Trill. He doesn't like how one would change who they are just to join with a being that makes the person totally different from who they are. Long story short, he just doesn't get the attraction. |

Hair: Black Jack retains a small scar across his right hand from the incident at the Lake Armstrong Medical institute, and a scar on his left forearm from the Battle of DS9. |
