Nyoko Yuuri was born on Japan, and had a pretty regular, uneventful childhood. During her school years, she always excelled in her studies, while being very popular amongst her many friends in the Hinata school for girls.
After graduating at the top of her class, her adventurous spirit led her to apply and enroll to Starfleet Academy . There, her life took a turn for the worse. Nyoko was used to being number one when it came to studying, but Starfleet Academy was not Hinata school. By the time she realized how much effort was truly required to get decent grades, they fell to the lowest percentiles of her class. Even afterwards, Nyoko was no match the the Galaxy's truly best-and-brightest, and her grades remained mediocre. If that wasn't enough, she wasn't as socially accepted as she was back at Yokohama, and when things didn't become easier, the cheerful Japanese became frustrated. Nyoko was brought in front of a special committee during her second and third years where the continuation of her studies at Starfleet academy was questioned. In the end, she did manage to graduate, majoring in Intelligence with a minor in Tactics. Her grades were below average. In the next years, she moved from post to post. Her career didn't take off, and the longed-for promotion to Lieutenant did not come. Eventually, she was transferred to the USS Galaxy's Intelligence department. After nearly a year on the department, she was approached by Saul Bental who was asked by the Chief Intelligence Officer, Cora Dobryin, to compose a secondary Intelligence unit. Saul promised her that with him on her side, her career will soar. Nyoko decided to give it a try, and it paid off. On 2382, shortly after the Dithparu takeover attempt of Deep Space 5, she was given a promotion to Lieutenant, Junior grade. Soon after, she accepted another proposition from Bental, and followed him to the Galaxy's Tactical department when he became Chief of Tactical. |

Nyoko is a very cheerful, extrovert and fun-loving person.
Her outgoing nature makes it very easy to befriend her. She has a low self esteem, mostly product of her Academy years, but she always cover it up with a joke or a cynical comment. She is more of a follower than a leader, and it very loyal toward those who earn her trust. |
