Simmer of the Mission

Everyone

"I think writing like this is a participation of many people. And we make each other better writers. So to me everybody is a simmer of the month. I cannot pick one individual out."

Andrew

"Andrew and um...yea whoever it was? ...for the argument over implanting a symbiont in a human."

Pat

"Pat Weber. I liked reading the responses of his character, and his npc president, to what was happening on Trill."

"I'm nominating Pat for this simmer of the mission. I really liked his posts, especially towards the beginning of the mission where he wrote a lot. He probably did more jps in the first two weeks than I have in two years combined, and I admire that kind of dedication. So yeah, Pat, rock on! : )

Joe

"I'd have to say Joe. He worked the hardest."

"Our good Mr. Joe Ammo. Bloody friggen awesome."

Oded and Lori C.

"Oded and Lori for joint simmers of the mission."

The story between the two gets more entertaining by the post. There is always something new and interesting. Be it Nara's father back on her home world, or a new twist in Saul's character that makes him look darker, and yet at the same time more friendly. Nara's involvement with the orphan girl (Saia), and the ever changing relationship between the two. I could almost see the little girl's face when she first heard Nara speak!

Overall both are great writers and I could not pick just one as both of their stories are so intertwined and fun to read."

Trey

"I'd like to nominate Trey. I think he's really making O'Shea into a good, solid Chief Engineer, and a memorable character. Plus, he's a good, solid writer that always makes the effort toget involved, and that should be applauded."

"Trey, the writer of Brianna O'Shea, who did a wonderful job coordinating the relief efforts on Trill. If I wasn't so busy, I would have helped you more."

"Trey for the joint RP's that he did during this mission, Brianna O'Shea's development as a person was a good thing among the various other things that was going on."

The most recognized writer...

-=/\=- Kylee -=/\=-

"Kylee Kane, Simply because of 8-balls experiences through out the entirety of the mission. Absolute Star Writing."

"Kylee, writer of 8-ball. I enjoyed the entire plotline about 8-ball and the kids, but that last post was very well-written and had quite an emotional effect."

"Kylee Kane; her writings showed true ingenuity."

"Ensign 8-Ball Hunter. Felt her postings, especially that last one, was excellent all through the mission. She's a truly talented writer on this sim!"

"I nominate Kylee Kane, writer of Ensign T'Pol "8-Ball" Hunter. 8-Ball's antics are always hilarious, even when not intended, due to her "unique" outlook on the many situations she faces. This character really reflects the day-to-day feelings of a lot of us, in some way. I've especially loved how 8-Ball's character progression has developed with her new responsibilities. You rock, Kylee! I truly believe she has the makings of a great writer, since so many people can really relate to her characters."

"Kylee Kane. Bloody friggen awesome."

"My nominee for Simmer of the Mission is Kylee. Even though she wasn't the most frequent poster, and she didn't interact much with other simmers during the episode, I think that every single one of her solo posts was a pearl. Starting with "Of Heroes and Strength", with the 'I just thank god my friends aren't dead' monologue, and continuing with the little children subplot, all while keeping her 8-Ballish attitude and perspective which closer to a real life person than most of the other PCs. She made me laugh, she made me furrow my brow with interest, she made me make sad faces. Could you PLEASE give her the Lieutenant rank already?"

"I have to go with Kylee this time out. 8-Ball is most often written as a comic character, so when she was dropped into a decidedly non-comic situation with the two Trill children, it was almost literally painful to see her struggle to change as she had to help them. The final post, where the girl died was possibly the best thing out of this entire story-arc."

"For Simmer of the Mission, I nominate Kylee Kane, author of Ensign T'Pol "8-ball" Hunter. Kylee has a gift that all of us, as writers, strive for: believability and authenticity. By that, I mean she's able to write her character in such a way so that all of us can truly relate to her. Whether Hunter is tearing apart Eptgac, neurosing with Ella over Victor, or sorting out her own harried emotions, she always writes her in a light of realism. In the last post of the mission Rogue, Kylee wrote "The Business of Heroes". This is one of the finest posts I have read. Not because it has an extremely complex plot, or a vast array of characters. Simply, it is because it made me sit there, at the end of it, and think to myself, "My God, I've felt exactly like that. I know what she's feeling." How many times have we all woven large, complex plots, only to miss out on the humanity of our characters? I know I'm guilty of it, myself, as I am constantly trying to define my own character. Kylee's posts remind me (and I think, all of us) that to truly get to the gut of the emotion, we must maintain that factor that Star Trek has always embraced: the adventures of the human spirit.

Well done, Bravo!

Sincerely,
M.J. Miller
