It is impossible to tell the story of the daughter without first discussing the past of the mother. T'Sira Artemis Victoria Julianne Bancroft was born, of all places, in the alternate universe most commonly referred to by Federation and Starfleet scientists and historians as the Mirror Universe. In 2375, Tebrianne Bancroft, a Vulcan/Romulan hybrid, had been serving aboard the USS Galaxy when a transfer opportunity arose. A long-range expedition into the deepest parts of the Beta Quadrant had been put together. Had she opted to remain aboard the Galaxy, Artemis may never have been. And so Lieutenant Commander Bancroft signed on to serve aboard the mission, and met with tragedy before even leaving Federation space. A hostage situation turned messy. A terrorist cell had captured Tebrianne, wired her with explosives, and sent her amongst her people to negotiate. The situation deteriorated to the point where the leader of the cell activated the explosives. That action should have killed Tebrianne, but in recent months the psionic abilities granted by her Vulcan physiology had begun to increase in power exponentially. It has been theorized that an encounter with the Q while serving aboard U.S.S. Galaxy was the cause. At the last possible moment, she used the power of her mind to throw the others clear of the pending explosion. Tebrianne Bancroft was declared dead. It would be several years before the truth would come to light. An indeterminate time after the explosion, Tebrianne awoke in a holding cell. Soon, she would discover she had emerged into the Mirror Universe. An Alliance vessel had been assaulting the planet where Tebrianne emerged, and she was taken prisoner. It is at this point, where the individual events Tebrianne Bancroft's time in the Mirror Universe become less important. Three years after her capture, Tebrianne is liberated in a Terran Resistance strike on the ship upon which she had been held by her Mirror Universe duplicate, T'Briane. One of her liberators, a human named Tavin, took care in tending to Tebrianne's wounds. Serving with the Terran Resistance felt almost like being a part of Starfleet again. Seeing little hope in a return to her own universe, Tebrianne sought to integrate herself here and cut the final ties to her past. Three years later, close association and the turmoil of the life they led found Tebrianne sharing Tavin's bed. When she found out she was pregnant, Tebrianne was more surprised than anyone. She had been diagnosed several years earlier with a condition that prevented her from conceiving a child. Several months after she learned of her pregnancy, Tavin was killed in an Alliance attack. Tebrianne knew her child would never survive if born into this place. As luck would have it, her chance to secure safety for mother and child would arrive several months later. A ship from her own universe appeared, U.S.S. Solstice a Nova-class science ship, and made contact with the Terran Resistance. Tebrianne was able to meet with the captain, an Andorian zhen, and for her assistance the Solstice would take her back to her own universe when she returned. She agreed without hesitation. The operation was more complex than anticipated, and the Solstice was damaged during the escape. They were able to escape from the Mirror Universe, but the damage to the ship altered their chronophasic shielding, and the ship was propelled back in time. As the Solstice was making its escape, Tebrianne gave birth to a daughter. And so, in the Mirror Universe T'Sira Artemis Victoria Julianne was born, though some could possibly argue that the child could very well have been born partway between dimensions, universes, and timestreams. The names were a combination of heritage and Tebrianne's own life: a traditional Vulcan name, the name of one of her closest friends and a member of her former band, the name of her adoptive mother, and the name of her closest friend. The Solstice ended up five hundred years into the past deep in the Gamma quadrant. Later, however, she discovered that the Solstice was from a time that would be within her own future. To the crew of the Solstice, the year should have been 2446, and as fate would have it, the captain of the ship had previously served aboard the Galaxy. Captain Sharzhevashi zh'Rin had begun her Starfleet career as a flight controller aboard the Galaxy. Considering that she had as well, Tebrianne found the whole situation to be rather surreal. For fourteen years, the Solstice made every effort to return to their proper time. The ship had suffered sufficient damage in escaping from the Mirror Universe that it required nearly two years to bring the warp drives back online. Over the course of their journey, they occasionally found the means to move ahead through time. And finally, the story of T'Sira Artemis Victoria Julianne Bancroft may begin, at least from her own point of view. It was not until she was eight years old that Artemis, as she preferred to be called, was able to contribute to daily life aboard the Solstice. At the time, the Solstice had managed to progress forward to the year 2138. On a small ship, even without having gone to the Academy, it would have been impossible for Artemis not to begin to understand the workings of Starfleet and starships. She had also acquired her mother's talent and love for music. It was not uncommon for Artemis to spend the first part of her day assisting in some fashion with shipboard activities, the next portion of her day in a holosuite with a holographic educator, and then the remainder of her day would be spent on music. When the Solstice finally reached the Alpha quadrant, the year was 2340. They would be near Earth when they finally reached the 2380s. The Solstice, battered and failing, emerged from a temporal warp conduit near Mars. The incident caught Starfleet by surprise and the entire sector 1 fleet was scrambled to respond fearing an attack. It was just before this jump that the crew of the Solstice had reached a point where they could make their space-time calculations with more precision. And so, the plan had been devised that they would warp into the Sol system, jettison Tebrianne and her daughter in an escape pod, then engage their drives to make a final jump to their own time. When Starfleet forces arrived, they found only the single escape pod drifting in space. Both Artemis and her mother were taken to Earth to be questioned. Admiral Michael Bancroft was alerted at once. It had been nearly seven years in relative time since the report of Tebrianne's demise even though she and her daughter had lived through twenty. Tebrianne was reunited with her parents, and George and Victoria Bancroft met their granddaughter. Starfleet had many questions for both Tebrianne and Artemis, and it took nearly six months at Starfleet Command before they were finally cleared to visit Tebrianne's home. When it was clear that neither were a threat to the safety or security of the Federation, Starfleet cleared Tebrianne to return to duty and invited Artemis to be interviewed by a panel of Starfleet Academy instructors. Artemis wowed the panel with both her charm, intelligence, and experience. Returning to England after her interview, she learned that her mother had been offered a position aboard the U.S.S. Discovery as flight controller, though it was obvious the position was to reintegrate her into shipboard life, update her knowledge for the ten years she had missed, and groom her toward the executive officer's position. Seeing Tebrianne off was potentially the most difficult trial of Artemis' life. For all of her life, Mum had been a constant companion, partner, friend, and muse. But, the emotional outpouring did not last long as she herself was off to Starfleet Academy to begin her own time as a cadet and eventually a Starfleet officer. Most of what the Academy was teaching, Artemis either already knew or was at least had passing familiarity. Her education aboard the Solstice had been extremely thorough. Plus, her natural intelligence due to her Vulcan and Romulan heritage, mixed with the curiosity of her human father's had given her both a thirst for knowledge, understanding, and adventure. With her understanding of ship's systems, Operations was a natural career path for her. It was not long at all before it was determined that most of what the Academy could teach her, she already knew. And so, it was decided that the best choice for Artemis Bancroft was to serve aboard a starship. She was sent to DS5 to await her new ship, the U.S.S. Carthage. While aboard DS5, the Carthage was destroyed, leaving Artemis stranded in the middle of a starbase surrounded by hostile aliens. But, if nothing else, it would be a new experience. |

Artemis Bancroft is an inquisitive young woman who, while she looks Vulcan, exhibits very few Vulcan personality traits. She is outgoing, charming, and good-humored. She carries herself well, speaks intelligently and clearly, and can be counted on to be cheerful in most circumstances. |

Family: Artemis is extremely passionate about music. She spends time singing every day, as well as playing a large variety of instruments. Her mother, a talented musician herself, asserts that Artemis learned to sing before she could talk. She sings soprano, with a strong, clear, resonant voice with extensive training in many musical styles. While Artemis may have been born in what would commonly be noted as the year 2380, temporal shenanigans ensued after her birth. Damage sustained to the U.S.S. Solstice sent Artemis and the crew five hundred years into the past. The result was a journey that spanned space and time, taking a total of fourteen years through a variety of temporal and spatial regions to return to the year 2382. As of her assignment to the U.S.S. Carthage/U.S.S. Galaxy, Artemis was sixteen years of age. |
