Alexia of Sumar was born within the Nryani system located deep within the beta quadrant. Her world is a place bristling with advanced technology, medicine, and science, and has prospered in isolation from the rest of the quadrant for over eighteen generations. Having no interstellar relations with alien governments or organizations, the Nryani became a mythical race. Some believed they were deities laying careful watch over the universe, while others believed them to be its makers. While expeditions representing several space faring races had attempted to venture into Nryani space over the course of many centuries, none had ever returned bearing fruits of their efforts. These travelers instead returned to known space without recollection of their experiences, nor evidence to indicate they had even encountered the Nryani.
To be of the Nryani means to cherish the code of honor as well as the preservation of life. Each Nryani is instructed in these teachings with great vigor. On the seventh year of a child’s life they are presented before an elder of the people, where their coming occupation on Nryani is decided. When Alexia reached this age she was taken to see a man named Elxi who chose her to become a Guardian. Guardian’s are few on Nryani since the formation of their society, and were viewed with high honors and respect. It was an unexpected joy for the family of Sumar when Alexia was chosen to become such an individual, balanced only by the knowledge that they would not see their daughter again until her training was completed. For nearly eleven years Alexia was instructed in the ways of a guardian. A guardian was not only a master of every fighting style on Nryani, but also proficient in medical techniques, and diplomacy. By the time Alexia had passed the last of her trials at the age of eighteen her skills in each of these fields attracted the attention of the elders, who so chose to have her as a guardian to the grand counsel. Such an honor was rarely afforded to any Nryani of her youth and inexperience, and yet Alexia assumed this role with firm resolve. Despite everything she had experienced there was nothing to prepare her for the day when an alien vessel entered their system. Realizing that she had only been a child when alien outsiders violated their space, the young guardian’s body pulsed with excitement. Quickly assuming her place within the counsel chambers, she watched as the elders discussed a course of action. As the aliens approached their world, the counsel prepared to authorize the use of a powerful scan against their vessel which would disable it and its crew. The attack seemed imminent, yet never came. At first Alexia couldn’t understand what was happening as two-thousand years of history changed when Kara; supreme guider of the people instead chose to open a dialog with the aliens. They called themselves members of the United Federation of Planets, and after initial introductions were made were invited to meet with the counsel. Alexia herself was instructed to escort these representatives to the counsel chambers. She was invigorated by the experience, and barely maintained her calm in all the excitement. As formal introductions entered a state of negotiations towards future relations between their two peoples, Alexia felt overwhelmed by the knowledge that she had been present for one of the greatest achievements in Nryani history. Such accomplishments were not without fault however, as her interactions with the outsiders led her to discover the quadrants ‘spiritual’ perception of her people. When this information was brought before the counsel it was decided that a single representative of the Nryani would journey into the stars to right these misperceptions. Alexia was chosen to be that representative. Contact with her people was a rare break for Alexia, and had it not been for the support of other cadets she would have lost herself in the tidal wave of culture shock. Through the course of four years the young Nryani endured and prevailed through every trial which fell upon her towards become a Starfleet Officer of the United Federation of Planets. She was then transferred to the USS Galaxy to begin her new career. |

Alexia is a young and ambitions woman whose devotion towards the protection of all life has only matured through her experiences. Capable and determined, she is a tremendous asset to the USS Galaxy and its crew. This young woman lives her life by a code of ideals shared by both the Nryani and the Federation, yet has developed a fun loving personality through her ventures. In a way Alexia yields a sacred innocence within her, yet her naive perception of the galaxy holds no match to her skills as a guardian. She will defend the sanctity of life without measure of concern towards her own, and will sacrifice herself gladly if only to preserve the life of another. |

One of the greatest weapons of a guardian is a katana blade forged of the strongest metals on Nryani. Even while Alexia has given up her guardian robes for a Starfleet uniform, her sword is still sacred to her, and is kept in her room. | ||
