Xavier severely reprimanded by Commander-Hazard Team after betraying a direct order while battling Dominion ground forces on Sularan III and attempting to rescue a fellow team member held captive in a Jem'Hadar stronghold camp. Only the successful rescue of the officer stopped the Commander initiating court-martial proceedings. | |

One of the most promising students to come out of Starfleet in a long time, Xavier King is the product of quite a distinguished background and a somewhat unique lineage. He was born to Morgan King, a respected Starfleet Captain; and V'Larina King, a beautiful Vulcan scientist who was a leading light in the Vulcan Science Academy. From an early age, Xavier's mixed lineage led him to show an increased level of logic and practical problem solving than many humans, though he still retained an emotional streak and the human passion for adventure. As a young boy, however, Xavier's life was forever marked by tragedy. When he was only 12 years old, V'Larina vanished and was presumed dead when the Vulcan science ship she was journeying on was lost in a black hole. Her death shattered both Xavier and indeed his father, who became increasingly distant from his son & devoted more and more of his time to his Starfleet career. Xavier was raised in Cuba, on Earth, by a succession of nannies. Nonetheless, he grew up to be a strong, well-balanced individual, though felt the struggle between embracing his Vulcan ethics and his human emotions. Believing it would have been his mother's wish, Xavier joined the Vulcan Science Academy when he was fifteen years old as a student, despite his father's lack of backing. While he was always fascinated by Vulcan science & mysticism, Xavier missed Earth & was drawn to the idea of exploring the stars & joining Starfleet. After one year of study, on his 16th birthday, Xavier applied to Starfleet Academy and after several years at a Federation integration school, he became an Academy student, backed by Thadeus Raith, a Starfleet Admiral who had been a King family friend & often looked upon Xavier like his own son. At 21, Xavier graduated with honours and was assigned immediately as a Tactical Crewman on the USS Copernicus, where he served with distinction for two years until he was promoted to Ensign and offered a lucrative posting on the legendary USS Enterprise. Xavier turned it down, however, to join the Hazard Team, a Starfleet defence force designed to combat foes such as the Jem'Hadar & the Borg, who were involved in highly-dangerous operations against Dominion forces in the war. Over a four-year period, Xavier fought in countless engagements against Dominion forces, gaining distinction as he proceeded. When the war ended, Xavier was made an interesting offer. Thadeus Raith, the Admiral who had watched him throughout his career, offered Xavier a position inside Starfleet Intelligence, impressed with his abilities as an operative. Xavier accepted, but was soon shocked to discover his long-estranged father Morgan was also an intelligence agent, had been for 30 years & has come to realise he's more in common with his father than he thought. |

The mixed Vulcan/Terran genetics of Xavier have created quite a complex individual in terms of emotion. He is at the same time logical, yet emotional. Xavier has a strong moral centre at his core which marks him out as a perfect leader. He is happy commanding men, yet at the same time befriending them. He is cool in battle, displaying Vulcan traits of calm, yet at the same time can be fierce and precise. He also displays a very dry wit that can disarm some and make them warm to him, but alienate others who don't get his humour. The biggest failing of Xavier's is his propensity for shying away from emotional attachments. His cool Vulcan nature, mixed with the death of his mother & detachment from his father, have led Xavier to fear sharing his soul with anyone in a way that goes beyond the professional or the amiably casual. Though one day, he would like a wife and family, Xavier knows he will find it hard to meet anyone he can connect with on such a level. |
