On May 7th, 2343, Tyrone Miller was born in Columbus, Ohio on Earth. He was the second and last child of the Millers, who were both Federation News Service Reporters. Journalism was something that both had been interested in all their respective lives, which is how they met. They're children, however, didn't have that same interest, and they decided to join Starfleet, in order to fulfill their dreams. Both Tyrone and his sister Kayla were close growing up, and Kayla is one of the only people that Tyrone has ever been close to. Growing up together they both enjoyed playing practical jokes on each other and each others friends, and working together to get their parents. When Kayla became 18, she applied for the Academy, choosing the Security Career Track. When it was Tyrone's turn, 3 years later it was the Helm.

Cadet Miller joined the Academy in 2361, being part of many groups and associations while he was there. As a student of Flight Control, he learned the techniques that he would be tasked with at the Helm of a Starship. But as an athletic young man, he became part of the Academy's Wrestling team, winning several awards in the ring. In his Third and Fourth years he was the teams Captain. In 2364, came Tyrone's training cruise, aboard the USS Canada. A small ship, it still proved to be an interesting place to train. Upon Graduation, he decided to remain aboard the Canada as an Ensign, in the Flight Control Department.

The Canada was one of many ships that wasn't recalled to Wolf 359 in 2367, but the ship was involved in the tachyon blockade later that year set up by Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the Enterprise. From then on he wished that he'd served on that mighty Galaxy class vessel, one day hoping that he'd get the chance to serve on one. In 2369, Tyrone was promoted to Lieutenant JG, and continued to serve in the capacity as a Flight Control Officer of the Canada. In 2372, when the war with the Klingons broke out in the Arkanis sector, the department on the Canada suffered a shakeup, and now Lieutenant (JG) Miller found himself as the Assistant Chief Helmsman. In the opening months of the War with the Dominion, the Canada was ambushed, and all officers and crew were taken prisoner by the Dominion.

So from 2374, Tyrone lived under the brutal hand of Cardassian and Jem'Hadar suppression, as a Prisoner of the ongoing war. He was held at the Dominion Internment Camp Alpha 9, near the border between Cardassian space, and the Tzenkethi. During his time their, he was tortured regularly, he was pushed to the limit of his physical abilities, and beaten regularly. During one such incident in the camp, Tyrone was stabbed by a Cardassian guard. It was only the quick thinking of his cell mates that prevented him from bleeding to death. During a later session with the Cardassian leadership on the base, his voice box was partially removed, and he is now left with the requirement of using a Vocoder.

After being released at the conclusion of the war, Tyrone spent 2 years on Vulcan, attempting to learn the Vulcan ways. He wanted to be able to suppress the memories of what happened to him in the camp, and was willing to try anything to achieve that. He found that in those two years on Vulcan, he learnt a great deal, and decided that he actually enjoyed the Meditation techniques that he was taught. Following the two years on Vulcan, he went to Earth, and spent 6 months in Tibet. He spent that time furthering is growing interest in meditation, and following some old Earth ways of mental and spiritual relaxation. He actually found that this kind of therapy worked for him.

In late 2377, he finally decided to return to Starfleet. he spent 7 months as a Lieutenant JG as the Assistant Chief Helmsman of the USS San Hose before being promoted to full Lieutenant and made it's Chief the following year. Although he soon lost interest in it, feeling that Starfleet had neglected him in the POW camp, and decided to resign his commission. He currently holds the record as shortest career length as a Department head; 2 and a half days. So, with no responsibility to the uniform he no longer had faith in, he returned to Earth, first taking a job as a Bartender at the Launching Pad in San Francisco. That one, however only lasted a month, when his mother said she could get him a job with the FNS.

He took it, being sent to Paris as the FNS Correspondent to the Federation Council. Although it wasn't much, and his column was short, he enjoyed being able to deliver the news of the Council's decisions to the public's attention. Then, 2379, he was approached by the FNS to begin a new project for them. As the only former Starfleet Officer among them, he was asked by the Editor to begin work on putting together a Documentary on Life at Starfleet Academy. During the course of the Projects construction, Miller found that the Academy had changed considerably since the war, and decided to make that his primary focus. In mid 2380, his documentary 'Post War Academy Life' was released to the Public, and showed how the Cadets and the Lecturers had changed since the end of the War with the Dominion.

So, after that, he was left with nothing further to do. The FNS sent him to the USS Galaxy A to cover the Breen incident. Arrived on board when the Galaxy and the USS Miranda left Starbase 212 for Breen Space. He finally got his wish to serve on a Galaxy Class Vessel, only he'd never put the Uniform on again.

Tyrone, or Ty, as he prefers, is an athletic man who has a talent for Amateur Wrestling. He was on the Academy's Wrestling team throughout his time there, and was the team Captain in his final two years. Miller is a man who once put Starfleet, the Federation and the Uniform before anything else, even if that meant violating given orders. Since he spent time in the POW camp however, he lost faith in the Uniform, and ultimately that changed his way of thinking. He's had little successes in relationships throughout his life because he rarely allows people around him into his life, finding it extremely difficult to interact. However, since becoming a Reporter, he has slowly had time to work on that skill.

Tyrone has a six inch scar that runs from just below his right lung, to where the two halves of his rib cage meet. The scar is a result of the stabbing that he incurred whilst in the Dominion POW Camp. He's never considered getting it removed, although he's tried not to think how it got there. He also has to use a Vocoder to speak, as his voice box has all but been removed. The Vocoder is subdermal, so cannot be seen, but he does have a slight mechanical voice which often sounds erie to hear.
