Micaelah "Mike" Rabb was born to Jerri Vikaya-Rabb and Leonard Rabb late one night in November of 2383. Her mother, a Colonel in the Federation Marine Corps, was assigned to a temporary teaching position at the University of Texas at Arlington while her father was a tenured professor. Upon Micaelah's birth, Jerri and her husband decided to settle in Texas to raise their daughter though Jerri would periodically be sent away from Earth on assignment for the Corps. Micaelah's childhood was idyllic in many ways, from her closeness with her father to her being able to run about the University of Texas' campus and listening to the professors long before she would reach the age where she could attend college.

Mike was always an exceptionally bright child, but she had quite a bit of the rebel in her and that rebelliousness expressed itself through her insistence in joining the rodeo. Earth, in the latter half of the 24th century, still supported an avid collection of cowboys and cowgirls who wanted nothing more than to ride the range and re-live the wild west days of yore. Micaelah in the tradition of her cowboy ancestors dreamt of nothing more than riding the range, the feel of a horse beneath her, and the wind rushing through her hair. While she could get some of that through her proximity to the traditional "west,"
it was not enough for the fiery haired girl. Therefore she found herself joining the junior rodeo in barrel racing. The fine control of the horse, the danger, and the cheers of the crowds were a heady experience for the then 16 year old. Two years after joining the junior circuit, Mike decided that she had had enough of the lesser crowds...she wanted a true golden buckle to adorn her belt, from the professional circuit.

The crowds loved her, for though she was a smaller woman, it stood her in good stead as it seemed like she was glued to her horse and with her upon it any horse that she rode led her to a victory. She could do no wrong, until one rainy night in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Unlike her usually careful self, she neglected to double check her straps when she rode out into the arena. She never noticed the straps break, but she did notice her sideways plunge into a wooden barrel...and the subsequent crack that her ribs and back made when she struck. Mike was rushed to the hospital, and it was only through the miracles of current medical technology that she was able to save the use of her legs. Her spine had been cracked, and swelling had reduced the feeling in her legs to zero.
Through careful surgery, and weeks of rehab later, Mike was released from the hospital among the cheering of her fans. But a true death blow had been struck to her rodeo career - under the severe admonishment of her doctors she was to never ride in the rodeo again.

She knew all too well the risks before her should she defy that order, so she turned her attention away from the rodeo circuit even though she could sometimes be seen in the bleachers watching the riders with envy.
She knew that rodeo was only a temporary experience, and something else was drawing her. Mike had always loved science, from her classes in high school, to simply listening to her parents speak of their fields.
Leonard Rabb was a famous physicist, while Jerri was a trained archaeologist before having joined the Corps. The two were an unlikely pair, but they loved each other and their fields of study. There was little Micaelah could do but to absorb that love of science in turn.
That rebel in her reared its head again and urged her to join Starfleet. Her parents were proud of her, though concerned that her previous injury would prevent her acceptance. However Starfleet accepted Mike Rabb, and she swore both to herself and to Starfleet that she would do them both proud.

Mike threw herself into her studies, pleasing both herself and her teachers with her efforts. She was one of those rare few who loved her field, and loved sharing that love with others. It was due to medicine that Mike had retained the ability to walk, and so she chose to honor those who had saved her and take up the mantle of physician. Like her mother before her, Mike also chose to study archaeology as a minor. But despite her serious studies, Micaelah still strove to have fun with her Academy life. Sporting a lively sense of humor, Mike would play pranks on her friends though she made sure that it wouldn't hurt the other person. Being part Betazoid had also taught her to respect other people's emotions though unlike most part Betazoids, her empathy was close to null.

Mike would still try daring stunts, like white water rafting down the Colorado River, parachuting, free climbing mountains...but she always made sure that she didn't over do it. She was particularly sensitive of the possibility of her loosing the use of her legs again. One close shot was more than enough for the fiery haired girl, despite the fact that it seemed to her friends like she was an adrenaline junkie.
Perhaps, in a way, she was.

She was a very serious student when it came to academics, striving to prove herself to her professors and to prove that she deserved to be on the front line when positions opened on Starships. She knew that that was exactly where she wanted to be - not in some lab in the middle of no where, some Starbase isolated from where true discoveries were being made - in space, on a Starship. She knew that the only way to get that goal would be to do her best in academics and in outside activities.
During her senior year, she was sent to the USS Ticonderoga for her cadet cruise and that one taste of space was more than enough for Mike to be hooked. She wanted far more, but that one cruise let her know that, despite all the training she had received from Starfleet, she needed more to be truly useful in the field. A transfer program had been in place for some time with several of the premier learning institutes around the galaxy, and Micaelah Rabb applied to be accepted to this program. Accordingly, the year following her senior year, Mike began attending classes for her doctorate at the Vulcan Science Academy. It was to be the best and worst years in her life.

Mike, for all her cross cultural heritage, was unprepared for the culture shock that hit her when she reached Vulcan. Here was a world very much unlike the Texas plains where she was raised or San Francisco where she studied. She was unused to people not emoting, but she knew better than to try and force her ideals on the Vulcans. It was because of this fact, and that she accepted the Vulcans for who they were that she gained several Vulcan friends during the five years of her training. She was actually saddened to leave Vulcan when the time came, but she knew that it was for the best. She still thirsted for the stars.

Upon graduation, Micaelah was assigned to the USS Hawking as a junior medical officer. Mike threw her enthusiasm into her work, garnering the attention and appreciation of her superiors. True, she had gained a bit of a reputation for a joker, but it was enough to keep her patients amused. Mike was a great believer in humor as a healing agent. With the recommendation of the Hawking's Chief Medical Officer, Mike was assigned to the USS Dallas as her new Assistant Cheif Medical Officer. With the added responsibilities that came with that post, Rabb grew both as a doctor and as an officer which eventually led to her request for command training. Upon Doctor Kenzie Richards'
retirement in 2378, Micaelah Rabb was promoted and assigned the position of Chief Medical Officer on the fondly named "Big D." She was in that position for just under a year before she was transferred to the USS Arizona.

Mike's time on the Galaxy was punctuated by many things - invasions, disruptions of her medical bay, and various other deeds. However, the foremost amongst these was her falling in love. Mike Rabb and Selok cha' Selen were married on the USS Arizona just prior to Mike's transfer to the Galaxy.

Mike Rabb is a very open, fun loving woman who is not above cracking a joke or two to lessen tension or to drawl in her thick Texan accent that 'This ain't nothing we've ever seen in Texas before' to get a laugh. She has been and always will be an adventure lover, and there isn't much out there that she wouldn't be willing to try. She's always had a relatively easy time at making friends, though her shear force of personality can sometimes be a little putting off. There's no doubt that she was a rodeo star, simply due to the fact that her language is scattered with phrases and words from that particular culture. She holds a deep love of history and the land and when she feels that an injustice has been done she will invariably speak up.

Micaelah Rabb is of slight build and height, just below average, but despite that fact her presence often causes others to ignore or even miss that fact. She has vivid blue eyes and fiery hair.

Mike takes after her mother in many ways, including her avid interest in dangerous adventures such as white water rafting and mountain climbing free style. She also has an avid interest in the "Old West" era of her home world, including but not limited to her becoming a professional rodeo rider before she joined Starfleet and her collection of John Wayne paraphernalia.

Family:
Mother: Colonel Jerri Vikaya-Rabb - Retired, University of Texas - Dallas
Father: Professor Leonard Rabb, University of Texas - Dallas
Sister: Lt. Denise Rabb, USS Kensington, Science Officer
Husband: Lt. Selok, USS Galaxy, Science Officer

Mike Rabb is proud of her Texan heritage, despite her lineage to the Second House of Betazed through her mother. She has always felt that she was more human than Betazoid, but she tends to feel uncomfortable around full Betazoids for that fact.
