The son of a Senior Chief Petty Officer and a Petty Officer First Class, Jeremy Savoie (sa-VWAH) was born on Starbase 64 and spent almost his entire life on whichever ships or starbases his parents served. Descended from Louisiana cajun stock, Jeremy, his brother, and two sisters spent a few summers on Earth visiting their grandparents. However, Jeremy tries as much as possible to distance himself from a heritage he regards as "crude".

Growing up in starfleet, Jeremy learned to pilot a shuttle at a young age, and eventually became determined to enter the Academy and surpass his parents' lowly 'non-comm' status. An average student in the academy, he nonetheless impressed both his instructors and peers with his piloting skills and his tenacious personality. For five months during his senior year at the Academy, Jeremy led the prestigious Nova Squadron, only to be removed from the squadron entirely when he lost his temper with an Admiral who questioned some of the young man's decisions.

Jeremy's first post was to the USS Farragut, where his ambition and excellent piloting skills earned him a promotion to Lt. j/g within a year. In spite of his skills, he was moved to Operations after friction between him and the Chief Helmsman reached a head. His morale broken, he transferred to the USS St. Louis in 2375, where once again he impressed his commanding officers. After a couple years, Jeremy was promoted to full Lieutenant and Assistant Chief Helmsman, only to once again have a personality conflict with a superior officer mar his record. Although he retained his rank, he was forcibly transferred as a helmsman to the USS Lexington, an assignment that neither he nor the ship's captain wanted.

In 2379, after serving less than a year on the Lexington, Jeremy requested and received a transfer to the USS Galaxy.

In early 2381, Jeremy Savoie was recalled to Starfleet Headquarters on Earth to participate as a key witness in Court Martial proceedings for the former First Officer of the USS Lexington. He was re-assigned to the USS Galaxy several months later.

Bright and ambitious, Jeremy's greatest desire is to rise through the ranks as an officer to one day have his own command. Many of his superiors have noted that he has command potential but that his own greatest obstacle is himself. Having little tolerance for other people's foibles, Jeremy often speaks his mind without thinking, which on more than one occasion has led to negative consequences.

Jeremy is perhaps hardest on himself, looking down on his own heritage and his parents' careers as non-commissioned officers. This has been both a positive and negative motivating force for him, pushing him to exceed his family's accomplishments while cultivating an image of self and family based largely on shame. The strong internal conflict between his desire to succeed and his poor self image has caused Jeremy to struggle with authority issues and to generally close off his deeper self to all but a very few close people in his life.

Jeremy never goes by "Remy", the common Cajun form of his name, with anyone except a few of his older relatives. He considers most things about his heritage, but especially that nickname, as somehow suggesting inferiority, a feeling he reacts strongly to. The only occasional exception to his dislike of things Cajun is the music, which he secretly enjoys, having even learned to play a few traditional Cajun instruments.

Ironically, although Jeremy does get emotionally attached to people, he rarely lets it show and will sacrifice a relationship if it in any way interferes with his ambitions.
