The only child of two xenoarcheologists, MacKenzie Todd was surrounded by alien cultures from her earliest days. Her parents were both experts of early Vulcan and Rihannsu history, and were prominent excavators of the Calder II burial mounds. She was taught various languages over the course of her childhood, spending years being schooled by her parents and their multi-cultural colleagues, finding herself submersed within the cultures of the other scientists as well as the cultures of their artifacts. Despite her relatively abnormal childhood, MacKenzie was a relatively normal child: her life was stable and she was surrounded by culture and the resources to encourage her intellectual growth. Her parents had intended to integrate her into their circle and their specific archeological areas of interest, but MacKenzie's curiosities went in other directions. Instead of concentrating on religious and burial rituals, MacKenzie became intrigued by the tactical differences between war-based societies. She was seven. It wasn't that she was particularly an intellectual protege, instead she was simply obsessive. MacKenzie spent the next ten years consuming everything she could, supplementing her regular studies. After all, it wasn't like there was much else for her to do. Her parents weren't thrilled but they weren't necessarily surprised when she approached them to take her to the nearest base so she could take the Starfleet entrance exam. MacKenzie barely passed and was accepted to the Academy under probation with deficiencies. MacKenzie didn't necessarily take well to the Academy, and the fact she'd chosen to enter the London campus' Intelligence Program didn't help. Although she was based on the London Campus, they often had to go to San Francisco for classes the smaller campus couldn't provide. Everyone on the London location knew everyone else. She had never been around many children of her own age, and it made her more than a little socially awkward. Her obsessive nature also kicked in full force, and her perfectionism wouldn't allow her to rest until she'd proven she belonged there. She worked hard, getting top marks in every class except for her engineering elective. She graduated seventh in her class, on time despite having to make up for the deficiencies when she entered. Her only conflict came when she challenged a professor during a lecture on the Romulan Star Empire, MacKenzie's area of expertise. She refused to back down. The professor had her escorted out of the class, and almost required she retake the class. The reprimand however was dropped after they sat down to speak, their tempers finally settled. After graduation, MacKenzie was assigned as an Intelligence Officer in the Rihannsu Sector. Her actions and assignments there for the next six years are highly classified, as is the reason behind her decision to change specialties from Intel to Tactics. However, it is known that she a specialist when it comes to Tal'Shiar operations. MacKenzie applied for and was accepted to the Advanced Tactical School in Glasgow. After graduation, she was placed back in the Rihannsu Sector, acting as a Sector Tactical Specialist for the Fleet station there. She did well and was promoted, eventually becoming the second tactical specialist. With the crippling of the Romulan Second Fleet, MacKenzie is recalled to earth and assigned as the Chief Tactical Officer onboard the Galaxy. |

MacKenzie Todd has always been accused of being a little.. socially awkward, and she's never grown out of it entirely (think Doctor Brennan from the show Bones). Usually a relatively easy going person, MacKenzie doesn't like to be challenged, and sometimes her temper will flair. She does have a relatively good sense of humour, though it is often caustic and can sometimes be more awkward than anything else. She can often be disassociative: she dislikes talking about herself and her past in any real specific terms, though she will happily discuss the more academic aspects of her life with anyone who will listen. She is extremely passionate about her areas of academic interest, specifically the Romulan cultural tradition. MacKenzie, however, does not consider herself an expert, believing no one (including even Romulan, for that matter) can claim such a thing. She has a perfectionist attitude, likes to succeed, and doesn't accept the possibility of failure. However, achievement does not come easily for her; instead, she has to work her ass off to get anywhere. She's intelligent, but not in any way that can be considered particularly remarkable. Her intelligence is book-learned. She spends most of her off-duty time studying, running simulations, and practicing her skill sets. |

Is a chess master: she can beat nearly anyone and her reputation is known. The chess club (multi-tiered and traditional) was one of only two extra curricular she had at the Academy. The other was cooking. Has a calico cat named Hobbes. Was once engaged to be married, though it didn't work out. She doesn't mention him, doesn't keep in touch, and has never even told anyone so much as his name. Keeps in regular contact with her parents, and sees them when she can. They have moved on from the Calder system and have journeyed into the former Neutral Zone to further their research. |
