Gedala Darks was born in a relatively unimportant Trill settlement on the planet Onew IV, in the city of Arima. She went through her childhood being a bombastic chit and driving everybody up the wall, when her ego wasn't pounding them into said wall. She was a confident and happy child, very assured of herself and did most things as she wanted, rather than what was expected or demanded of her. In school she did well, never a star but in the top percentages and kept a decent enough profile with her teachers, even if she blew up at a few of them more than once. Thanks to her sunny personality problems had a way of wafting away quite quickly, though.

As she hit teen-years her brother Braje joined Starfleet and also opened up the door for Gedala, an opportunity the girl would happily use some years later. She got along well with her parents, though they were a bit too uptight for her personal taste and thus minor clashes were a common occurrence, but nothing anyone bothered noticing.

After finishing High School, Gedala took a year off from further studies to figure out what she wanted to do with her haphazard life. Since she had no immediate goals or dreams of grandeur, her parents' suggestions were of no real use and after nearly ten months of being a very lazy Trill, she finally decided on a future course of action thanks to a helpful nudge from her brother. Since she was damned cool with any and all gadgets and also had a fondness for stuff that went boom, but wasn't out to get killed very fast, she enrolled in the Devno III Greater Engineering Academy with a major in Electronics. Immediately after finishing up there, she scooted to the closest Starfleet Enlistment office and threw herself into the game.

She figured she didn't want to be an Officer, since they had no real fun and had to work all the time, but she could breeze it easy as an Enlisted. Plus, it meant she would have little to no hassles getting out of 'the game' when the whole military shit bored her to tears.

After the mandatory basic training sha-la-laa, the Trill found herself on her first posting, being one of four Ordnance Specialists posted with the Scorpion Squadron on the Kelvin-class USS Vespa. Gedala, being an unbelievably freewheeling redhead, swiftly made a name for herself on the Vespa being the one who always left any party last and blazed through so many beds that no one could keep count anymore. But, even if she did learn the finer points of a good few bunks, she still kept some inkling of good taste with her and only slept with the male population that seemed at least somewhat interesting. Her service on the USS Vespa was abruptly ended when the Captain heard of her behavior concerning his 2nd Officer and one certain 'gathering', which involved a lot of people and a lot of alcohol. In the long run four SFFC techs and two Ensigns were reassigned and the 2nd Officer was not the most popular man with the Captain anymore.

Two weeks after the incident Gedala had been shuffled away to the USS Miranda-B, perfectly unscarred and ready to continue her hunt for, uh, 'freedom'?

On the Miranda, the energetic femme swiftly made friends with several other Technicians and rode out the weirdness that was the missions they were on with relative ease. When Ra decided to ask for reassignment, Dala was quick to follow and spent a rather relaxing time on the USS Venture. In the long run the rather dull collection of people she was working with on that vessel came to bore her, however, and it was mostly due to her shoving and poking that Ra and her ended up on the Galaxy.

Gedala is an optimistic extrovert with a better than average nose for innuendo and a sharp tongue that's at home dishing comments and exploring mouths. She's open and unrestricted, makes friends easily and is very certain of her skills, but agonizingly blind to her faults. She is imaginative and always ready to try new things, though she can be heavily reserved about things that she has a negative opinion about.

Gedala is happy being the 'small person' and isn't hounding for any great promotions or mind-smashing work to impress her superiors. Though she wouldn't mind a better title and what not, she won't die if she doesn't get it. She has no problems dishing around gossip and listens to any new bits about her favorite Officers with giddy joy and she is the original walking man-database. Odds are she can name facts about any and every interesting male on whatever ship she is at the moment.

The girl is very sexually active and doesn't keep all that many regular partners but changes them often. She has been known to sink into periods of 'meaningful relationships', but the male counterpart hardly ever manages to keep up with her both physically and mentally and at one point the two sides either burn each other out or get bored and move on to better prey.

Gedala is a natural redhead, but she often dyes it a sharper tone to stand out from the group some more. She takes great pride in her looks and believes that being physically fit is about as important as being sane, if not more.

The Trill likes thinking up elaborate fantasies and often acts them out on the Holodecks, some of her favorites involving certain male officers she has a hard time getting to on a skin-to-skin basis. Being an excellent programmer she has been known to come up with large-scale programs involving many separate parties and adding precise personality variables to the ‘characters’. One of her favorites involves the whole commanding staff from the USS Vespa, a raging river, a shotgun and an alligator.
