Vladimir was born on Earth and had typical childhood. From the beginning of his life, he wanted to become a surgeon. His parents were normal in every way, but his friends were abusing him. Maybe it is that thing, why he has such temper. He was studying at school #601 of St. -Petersburg and earned high marks there. After finishing school and college, he made his choice and started to attend Starfleet academy. He was dreaming of becoming a surgeon. In academy he has found himself talented surgeon. And finally, after 4 years of academy and 4 years of Starfleet medical, he finished studying. In Starfleet medical, he met and then married Victoria Willmore. But their marriage wasn't long - after two years, they divorced. After this, every man, telling name "Victoria" risk being hooked down. While studying in academy he was almost deducted for his poor physical abilities. In spite of his temper, he has few friends. Klingons usually don't like Humans, but most of his friends are Klingons.

First Vladimir's assignment was on the famous USS Galaxy NCC-70063. Being a simple ensign there, he was nothing more than a doctor. First of all he managed to make his opinion on everyone in style of 'the vessel of dummies and I am the only one clever-good-etc man in here'. His first chosen enemy was Autumn Jamieson, ensign-too. But some time later, he found that she is 'nice enough' and wrapped up his opposition to her.

In late 2377, Vladimir was promoted to Lieutenant junior grade while serving on board the USS Galaxy. By that time he became quiet known on the USS Galaxy... Mostly for his EVIL manners, but as good surgeon too. In the Galaxy's officers' struggle for life against Hirogen hunters, Vladimir was beamed on the planet where he met Lieutenant Corgan. Later both of them admired that if they hadn't met, it could be better for both. Constant collisions between them will later play evil jokes with them, 'cause they will not stand each other (unfortunately) from now on.

In 2378, Vladimir received his second promotion to full Lieutenant and with death of CMO Dothan, he became Acting Assistant Chief of Medical. The destruction of original Galaxy caught him in this position in vessel hierarchy Psychological Profile (detailed): His nature is very short-tempered and irritable to say the least. In spite of this, he can sit for hours, reading book on medicine. His philosophy is "All world, except of my friends are enemies, no neutrals allowed". His friendship can be strong and long. One of his friends said, that "being his friend is hard, but it is better then being his enemy". Vladimir prefers to relax with a book of medicine, making evening parties with his friends, or practice fencing. Only music he likes listening is "Beatles". After Victoria, there was no love in his life, so he started to think, that love causes only one thing - pain. He strongly resists any pressure made on him. This caused some little conflicts with rector of academy. Service on Galaxy somehow changed his opinion on the world in better side (but very little)

In 2379, he was transferred to the USS Galaxy as its Assistant Chief Medical Officer until Commander O'Connell's subsequent transfer to parts unknown. He was awarded a field commission to Brevet Commander and has now taken on the Chief Medical Officer duties.

Lt. Commander Malgin's replacement arrived on the Galaxy in 2380, and he was laterally transferred to Chief Surgeon of the vessel and field commission dropped.

You've just saw something like bomb, hurricane and fire in one person who had just entered the room? Well this is not Superman. It is just Vladimir Malgin. You won't see him walking into the room, because he never walks - he always almost runs. His black hair is always carefully combed back (he pays a lot of attention to his hair, because he just thinks that 'they're cool') and he will never lose a moment to re-comb them just 'to fit better'.

His nice blue eyes might lead you to the conclusion that he is very good. But it is a mistake.

His nickname on original Galaxy was Riald, but his colleagues on Starbase 'Moscovia' gave him another one - they called him 'Sonic', because of his speedy style everywhere.
