Ever met men who wished more than anything that they had a son to share their wisdom with?

The father of Rheay Arine Olin was just that kind of a man.

After the birth of his second daughter the man vowed that if the third child would not be a boy he'd damn well make sure the kid knew how to act like one. Well, the third child wasn't a boy.

Ra's father, Erme Olin, who mostly worked as a stunt-glider mechanic/engineer/electrician/etc, kept to his word and taught Ra well. The blond girl was obviously his favorite out of the three children and he never hid it, as the tomboy-ish Ra was as close to what he could get to having a son. From the very first years of her
life Ra was introduced to the inner workings of various fighters, how to improve and better them. Most of her evenings were spent watching her father work and helping where she could, while she wasn't climbing trees or pestering everybody else with the small gang of rascals she ran around with.

As she grew older she also took some limited interest in the completely different world her elder siblings and mother lived in, which was filled with obnoxiously female things, like dyeing one's hair, dating and giggling. As much as Rheay tried to fight it, she got
dragged into the feverish pit of doom that the trio of females existed in and thus was effectively split between the life of oil and wires as opposed to dyes and fashion.

Ra's fascination for engines thankfully went nowhere, even if the Femme Force of the house did their best to alter her interests. Though she dealt with 'the other side' to keep her mother satisfied, as well as to feed her own inkling of a hunger for that particular sphere of life, she still gave the better part of her interest to what her father was doing. When she reached early teenage years her father also introduced her to guns, how to use them and of course how to modify them. To nobody's surprise the awkward girl took an instant shine to the deadly contraptions and began honing her skills as much as she was allowed to. During that time in her life Ra also got some training as a pilot, but it was mostly to aid her to further understand the complexity of spacecrafts.

After finishing basic education in her hometown of Demsee on the small Betazoid planet of Diah're, Ra didn't really have to think too hard as to how or where she would continue her studies as she already knew what she wanted to do. Thanks to her remarkable grades and already being considerably proficient with small spacecrafts she was easily admitted into the Grenada II Technical School, where she continued her studies. Along with her came her chosen partner, a young Betazoid named Hanin Trevil, who due to her father's whim was naturally the son of another mechanic on Diah're. The two had been friends ever since Ra was about 5 and had easily formed a bond between themselves that molded them into a near-perfect team, as they worked together splendidly and could click on the personal level just as well.

Ra and Han breezed through school and finished both near the top of their class, after which they sought out a job together on the Engineering team of the shuttle bay on Fabine III. Fabine III was a smallish space station, which went to serve the purpose of being a quick place to dock before going somewhere more important for most of the ships that passed through there. Ra and Han spent a total of two years on the crummy little station, working their asses off under the commanding tones of their superiors, until Han passed away due to a tragic incident on the station, something which Ra rarely wants to
remember and never talk about these days. Barely a day after the incident Ra had packed her bags and blazed off the station to drop off the chart for a few months until one day she popped up again in a random Starfleet enlistment office, determined to change the life she was leading.

After training, she was assigned to the highly sought after USS Miranda-B and spent a few years as a Flight Crew Technician for the Rogues. She was promoted to Staff Technician soon after joining the crew, after a row of abnormal incidents, which she soon learned were the everyday toll on that particular vessel. After considerable time spent on the USS Miranda-B, she and her close friend Gedala Darks applied for a transfer and served a slightly less hectic term on the USS Venture, keeping a rather low profile. Not too surprisingly, the two femmes found relative normalcy quite soothing, but in the long run mind-rotting, and thus another transfer, this time to the USS Galaxy.

Ra is pretty straightforward and ridiculously self-assured, though she prefers avoiding conflicts she can't win. She takes no crap and has no tolerance for random bullshit, both on- and off-duty, which doesn't necessarily mean that she lacks a sense of humor. Just that there's a limit to all things and good tradition demands that some lines aren't crossed.

She is a diligent worker and loves her work, even if she does easily get aggravated because of it and might result to cursing at whatever engine/warp nacelle she's currently tinkering with. Rheay makes a capable enough leader, even if it's a rarely needed trait in her line of work, and if riled up enough she becomes exceptionally competitive. She's also prone to wanting to do things her way, which might end in continued running into brick walls even if there's a door about 4 feet to the left.

Usually she's pretty chilled and 'in the zone', but her temper is easy to flare and hard to beat back into submission. Even though she prefers saying what's on her mind she usually moderates herself and tries to keep the most inappropriate notions deep in her mind instead of on her tongue.

Rheay has an on-going affair with smoking and chewing gum, as well as playing poker and listening to music that's turned up way too loud. Also, even though she's a Betazoid, Ra has mostly sworn off of using her Telepathy, but is slowly leaning back towards poking around with it for personal gain and possible sudden punishment.

Ra has extremely pale skin, dark eyes and blond hair.
