Gregory Antino Ward was born in the capital city on the planet Trill to Lieutenant Commander Alex Ward, a Starfleet JAG Officer and his wife, a civilian doctor in Nura Nal who was at the time an unjoined Trill. Greg's father would tell him stories of how he fought in various conflicts prior to a field injury that even the best medical technology couldn't heal and he had to transfer to the regular fleet and became a JAG officer who was able to equally due to his experience.
Due to this, Greg Ward joined the Marines of Starfleet right after graduating from High School on Trill on the condition that he learn something else while being a marine in case something like what happened to his father occurred. Greg's natural talents became evident during this time and he gained high marks in the core and was a close friend of John Kawalsky and Stewart Ferretti, Alan Ford, Dense Flores, Thomas Freeman, Derek Brown, Carlos Mendoza and Ace Levy who would all later become members of Captain Roland Butch Flowers 237th Marine Strike Unit. After graduating from Basic, Greg was sent to the Advanced Special Operations School alongside Kawalsky, Ferretti, Ford, Flores, and Levy who would become the first trained in the field of Advance Recon Commandos, they were then assigned along with the rest of the graduates from basic to the USS Akagi, an older Apollo class Light Cruiser and then to the Galaxy class USS Challenger. During his first few years, Greg and Flores hit it off well and became quite close until she was captured during the final days of the war with the Cardassians. Greg still does not know the fate of the first person that he ever cared about, as such this gave Greg a new found determination and he earned decorations, promotions and medals for his constant hard work and diligence but he always felt that he still wasn't doing his best until Captain Flowers made Greg his aide while the unit was aboard the USS Beowulf, a Jupiter-class Heavy Explorer. It was there that Greg learned the fine art of command and he, along with the surviving ARC Troopers, were assigned to the Beowulf's Intelligence division during the Dominion War during a special operations mission to a Dominion Research Base deep behind enemy lines. It was there that Greg was injured while in combat with a Jem'Hadar soldier while saving the life of now Major Flowers, but Major Flowers died in the sickbay of the Beowulf a few hours later from internal injuries. The rest of the details, like several others, are classified by Starfleet Special Operations and Intelligence Commands. After the war, Greg went to the Marine Officer's Training School in Denver Colorado where he was promoted to the rank of First Lieutenant (his promotion to 1st LT came at the request of Major Flowers prior to his death) and he was assigned to command the now sized down 237th aboard the newly finished USS Olympia. Greg didn't complain but he was asked to be one of the pallbearers at Major Flowers' funeral prior to that. During his time on the Titan, Greg learned what it meant to be both a soldier and a officer but that ultimately was put to the test when a Reman Centurion (Romulan rank of Captain) in the form of Bracktanus continued to insult the Federation and it's fighting arms. Greg allowed the insults to continue until the reman finally insulted the memory of Butch Flowers at which point Greg spun around and decked him hard enough that he broke the reman's jaw. It took most of Greg's own unit to pull him off of the Reman in the ensuring fight. After being busted down to 2nd Lieutenant and getting yelled at by a General in the Marine High Command, the Titan's Captain and Diplomatic Officers respectfully, Greg and the 237th was transferred back to their "Home" in the USS Beowulf once more where they stayed until they were transferred to the USS Galaxy prior to the Battle of Havras where they served the crew well but none of the 237th would accept the Battle of Havras medal due to the their way of honoring the lives lost in that battle and plus, they didn't take it due to the fact that when word came down that the battle had been covered up, the unit basically thought back to the Dominion War and chalked up to another Special Operations mission more or less. At the current time, Greg was placed in charge of the so called "Blue Team" of the Galaxy's marine detachment after the 237th and their alternate number in the form of the 565th Marine/Ranger Strike Unit was merged into one detachment. To Greg, it doesn't matter-it's just another day in the core. |

For a man who has spent most of his adult life fighting in the trenches in the Starfleet Marine Corps, Greg Ward tends to view things calmly and without stress (it's known that personal relationships that he is in brings him stress for some odd reason). He is tends to be a person that people can trust but he is also known to be a person who'll work for that trust as well, also twenty odd years of being a marine has not made him jaded or anything. When asked if his experiences have affected him in any way, he just shrugs and says "eh".
The one thing that still affects him to this day is the loss of Denise Flores during the last days of the conflict with the Cardassians. Greg feels responsible for her being captured (for which he in truth isn't responsible for) and he is scared to enter into another relationship due to this. |

Greg has been studying Forensic Science for the past ten years and applied to the Trill Science Council and obtained a Masters degree in the field via correspondence.
Greg is also one of the first "Advance Recon Commandos" or "ARC Troopers" under Admirals Satori and Necachev and General Pitor Vassli who felt that a new form of Marine Force Recon needed to be created in order to help the core. Much like Commander Tuvok was able to train and create the first Hazard Team aboard the USS Voyager while it was still lost, Greg is qualified to train other ARC troopers but the process is difficult as it makes a marine into a qualified Special Operations Marine. ARC troopers are equivalent to 20th special service-their motto is "Una Salus Victus" which is oddly enough Vulcan for "The One Hope of the Doomed". Greg speaks the Caitian sub-dialect of Salusian which is spoken by the Caitian offshoot species from the colony of Salusia due to it being taught to him by Staff SGT Pete Stacker (the Standard version of Stacker's name). Greg is also known to sometimes play out the missions of the MACO unit assigned to the NX-01 Enterprise during their missions against the Xindi as a way of keeping his edge in-between missions. Greg is half Trill and as such he is capable of being a Joined Trill if he were to pass the symbiosis commissions rigorous process. Also, Greg's "spots" are a lot less prominent than the rest of his full blooded species. |
