Tactical Command and Control Center

General Layout

The offices and control centers of the USS Galaxy’s Tactical Department occupy a large portion of Deck 11. This complex, known as the Tactical Command and Control Center (TCCC), is the nerve center of the ship’s organic combat capability. One enters the TCCC through an access door near the terminus of turboshaft 3. Auxillary entrances permit entrance to the deparment offices or briefing room for authorized personnel only. Upon entry through the main doors, you will find the small receptionist office on the right, and the supply room a few feet further down the hall on the left. Past the supply room on the right side is a corridor which leads to the CTO and ACTO offices, break room, and support staff offices. The CTO and ACTO offices have direct views and entrances into the combat information center. The main entrance to the CIC is at the end of the main corridor. Located off the far end of the CIC are entrances to the briefing room and department offices, from which the analysis center can be accessed. The TCCC was built such that it is in the center of the deck, adding an extra layer of armor.

Combat Information Center

The CIC is the all-inclusive command center for combat operations onboard the USS Galaxy. It is capable of monitoring combat operations ranging from land operations to large fleet vs. fleet actions. A modular design, it can be quickly re-configured physically, or re-programmed to change functions in minutes. The CIC was also designed to serve as an auxillary bridge in an emergency.

The CIC is an elongated octagon. The wall adjoining the main entrance is a raised observation deck. Various stations are located on the walls past the railing. Clockwise from the end of the railing is the Tactical Analysis Group (5 seats), Combat Control (6 stations), Fighter Wing Liaison (1 seat), entrance to the briefing room, Marine Corps Liaison (1 seat), Master Situation Display, Multi-use station (4 seats), entrance to the offices, Internal Warfare (2 seats), Information Warfare (3 seats), Weapons Control (3 seats), Tactical sensor control (3 seats), and then reaching the opposite end of the railing, the doors to the ACTO and then CTO’s offices.

On the floor of the CIC are three multi-use holo-tables. The main table is in the center of the chamber, with the two secondary tables near the multi-use station and Marine station, respectively. Also on the floor are various table stations, such as (clockwise from main entrance) Combat Communications (3 seats), Maintenance (2 seats), Intelligence Liaison (1 seat), Bridge Liaison (1 seat), Electronic Warfare (1 seat), and Tactical Holography (3 seats).

The Master Situation Display on the wall opposite of the main entrance provides a multi use screen which can provide ship’s status, tactical maps, or a multitude of other things.

The CIC has built in dedicated communication lines to the bridges, flight deck, and various weapons control facilities to provide quick and secure two-way communications, and in addition can be linked in quickly to fleet communications. To reduce ambient noise in a combat situation, CIC crew members can be “miked” into the different communication circuits for which they need to be listening to by way of an earbud/microphone combination.

Finally, through an authorization by the Duty Tactical officer, the chief CIC control officer during a firefight can have any of the ship’s exterior weapons systems released to him for targeting and/or weapons release, should the need arise.

Department Offices

This space allows each Tactical Officer to have their own small workspace. Each cubicle has a functional desk with computer access. There are also several open areas with work tables to allow larger conferences and meetings between officers.

Analysis Center

The “think tank” of the Tactical Department, crewmen will be found here doing various research and simulations. The room is square, with a large, full-wall multifunction display on the wall opposite the entrance. On the wall nearest the entrance are 7 LCARS access stations. The floor of the room has 2 holo-tables and several work tables.
