Post Frequency and LOA Guidelines

Posting Frequency Requirements
|
Put simply, writers are required to post at least once every two weeks, although we'd prefer it if you post more frequently than that. Our most prolific writers usually post at least once a week. In addition to the declared audits run every few months, the GMs continuously keep track of writers' post counts and use this information to conduct silent audits. If a writer hasn't posted in at least a month, the GMs will send them a message asking them what's up and reminding them that they need to contribute some writing to the game. After receiving such a message, a writer has two weeks to either post, or reply to the GMs with an explanation if they won't be able to post in the next two weeks. If a writer fails to do this within the allowed time period, that writer will be removed from the game. A third option for a writer who hasn't been able to post is to request LOA, which is detailed below. |
LOA Guidelines
|
Writers who know they will not be able to contribute to the game for an extended period of time may request a Leave of Absence, or LOA. To do this, the writer can either notify the GMs directly, or send a message to the OOC list letting everyone know what's up. While the writer is on LOA, their characters are assumed to be wherever they were when the writer went on LOA. So, if the character was on the ship, it's assumed that they are still on the ship somewhere, just hanging out in the background doing their job. And if the character was off the ship when the writer went on LOA, it's assumed that the character is still off the ship until the writer returns and writes the character returning to the ship. Writers may remain on LOA for up to six months. After six months, the GMs will contact the writer to see if they are ready to return to active status. If not, the writer will be removed from the sim. Department heads on LOA constitute a special circumstance. If a department head goes on LOA, their character will remain in the department head position during the LOA. If after three months the writer is not ready to return to active writing, the department's assistant chief will be promoted to acting chief of the department and may be asked to temporarily assume the duties of the department head (representing their department on the staff list, mentoring new writers in the department, etc.). As with other writers, department heads who cannot return to active writing after six months of LOA will be removed from the game, and their assistant chief/acting chief will be promoted to department chief. Writers may return to active writing at any time by simply posting regularly again. A notification to the GMs/OOC list that the writer is coming off LOA is always appreciated, but not required. |
