Though any number of independent traders have encountered Klingons in Orion ports, the U.F.P. has never taken official notice of this new culture, whereas Klingon military observers have been gathering data about the U.F.P. and Star Fleet for years. On this date, the independent trader vessel "Millie Sue" and a Klingon scout vessel exchange fire. Though the "Millie Sue" damages and chases away the attacking ship, the exchange leaves her without faster-than-light capability. Two Star Fleet warships respond to the trader's distress call and rescue all hands. A nearby Klingon destroyer class ship, sent to aid the Klingon scout, evades the larger Star Fleet vessels. The encounter leads the U.F.P. to press Orion sources for information on this previously unknown spacefaring race [FASA Roleplaying Guide, Second Edition].

- Dr. Alonzo Richter first publishes the Richter Scale of Culture. In time it will become the U.F.P's most important tool for determining at which point in a civilization's development the Prime Directive no longer need apply [TOS Giant Novel 7: "Prime Directive"].
- Kepler" series unmanned probes are launched, propelled by warp fusion [Spaceflight Chronology].

- Aldebaran (Alpha Tauri III) becomes the 18th U.F.P. member [Star Trek Maps].
- First Fleet contact with the Klingon Empire leads immediately to armed conflict and a brief exchange of fire, when the "Advance" class U.S.S "Sentry," commanded by Captain Francis Benoit, confronts the Klingon cruiser "Devisor," commanded by Captain Korall, near Gamma Demetrius. The "Sentry" takes aboard a small warp shuttlecraft containing a family asking for immunity from the Klingons. Information obtained from spies and Klingon prisoners convinces Federation authorities that the Klingons and the Romulans have met and seems to be old and bitter foes. The "Klingon Menace" begins to overshadow conflict with the Romulans. Declaring neutrality, the Orion Colonies trade with both groups. Klingon raids on Federation shipping often masquerade as Orion-based pirates and vice-versa [TOS 16: "The Final Reflection", Spaceflight Chronology, FASA Roleplaying Guide, Second Edition].

- Trititanium is used in the construction of the disc-shaped primary hulls of starships. Prior to now, a disc-shaped starship hull capable of withstanding the stresses of high warp speed could not be built [U.S.S. Enterprise Heavy Cruiser Evolution Blueprints].
- The Star Fleet ship and small craft classification system begins, utilizing a 2 or 3-letter code for defining type and sequence within that type [Ships of the Star Fleet, Ships of Starfleet 2].

- Transporter Psychosis, a breakdown of neural chemical molecules during transport, is first diagnosed by researchers on Delinia II on January 4 [TNG: "Realm of Fear"].
- Rigel is the 19th U.F.P. member admitted to the Federation.
- USS WOLFE TONE disables or destroys six Kzinti vessles in Korrok system after being fired upon, commencing First Federation-Kzinti War.

The Terra-Return League is formed on Benecia Colony. It begins the Back-To-Earth movement, whose goal is to dissolve the Federation and return all Humans to the Sol system [FASA Roleplaying Guide, Second Edition, Spaceflight Chronology].

- Type 1/2A (Agronska 30 series) Hand/Pistol Phaser is developed by Star Fleet. The Phaser 1 unit is a palm-sized weapon worn under the uniform shirt. The Phaser 2 weapon consists of the Phaser 1 unit locked into a pistol mount, the handle of which greatly increasing the range, power, and energy charge of the weapon. They will remain in service for well over half a century, alongside more cruder hand weapons. The first units of this type may have been built around the hand laser units and the smaller versions will not see widespread use until the 2260s [Starfleet Dynamics, Federation Reference Series, The Making of Star Trek, TOS Novelization: "What Are Little Girls Made Of?"].
- The Janus VI pergium production colony is established [Star Trek Maps, Star Trek 4 - James Blish].
- Eminiar, in Star Cluster NGC 321, is first charted [TOS Novelization: "A Taste for Armageddon"].
- The is the year that Harry Kim's ancestor Jack supposedly piloted a deep space mission to Beta Capricus, while the rest of his crew is in stasis. When he finds no sign of life he turns around without waking up the crew. The ship didn't yet have a subspace transmitter [VOY: "11:59" - This obviously was a very odd, and somewhat miserable mission. It is uncertain why this sleeper ship would be in use at this time. See also another entry in this timeline at 2070, which assumes Harry had the wrong date]

- Having lost the right to vote, Arretian organic citizens are eventually reduced to a type of pampered-slave status. With nearly perfect efficiency, the artificial Arretians develop starships and weapons systems based on and designed to defeat the Krebiz ship which attacked them circa 2168. Before long, they will possess a large and powerful starfleet. The electronic Arretians decide to pro-actively defend their organic charges, and before long initiate a series of violent actions against the Krebiz, Indirigans, and other neighboring empires. During these early years, the AIs rarely choose to communicate with the lesser organics of the galaxy. The name "Mechad" is bestowed on them by the Krebiz, who will remained their dearest enemy for a very long time. The machine intelligences of Arretia have an extreme disregard for all non-Arretian organic life and will not negotiate or align themselves with any Far Side empire. They do not hesitate to kill organics when necessary but will avoid this whenever possible. Their loyalty is very strong, albeit oddly expressed, but it is only to the organic units of their own homeworld.
- The Indirigans launch a massive invasion of space neighboring their own between this date and 2231. With destroyers functioning as main fleet support vessels, and frigates functioning as fleet scouts, proceeding the fleet by several light-hours, the Indirigan conquest is a fearsome onslaught [Starfleet Battles].
2211, September 26
- The U.S.S. "Constellation" (NCC-1017) cruiser is commissioned. During her half-century of service she will be commanded by Captain Ran Armstrong and Captain Matthew Decker, mostly during her time in the upcoming refitted "Constitution" class configuration. Vincent Bando will be Chief Medical Officer aboard her before tranferring to the "Republic" (NCC-1371), sometime prior to 2245. On stardate 4201.71, the "Constellation" will be the first starship to make contact with a D-7 ("Klolode") class Klingon warship when the "Constellation" encounters the "Atropos" (I KV 10097) in the Saurian star system. Her patrol zone will be Fleet Subquadrant 2 South where she will also be lost in 2262 under the command of Commodore Matthew Decker. Another, rebuilt, "Constellation" will participate in the Levaeri V raid in 2270, under the command of Captain Mike Walsh. In 2273, a ship intended to be called the "Constellation II" (NCC-1728) will be laid down but will be renamed "Truxtun" before commissioning in 2275. A residence hull at the San Francisco (Home Fleet) Star Fleet Academy will be named in honor of the original "Constellation." The U.S.S. "Constellation's" uniform insignia may be a stylized "I" shape [U.S.S. Enterprise Heavy Cruiser Evolution Blueprints, TOS 29: "Dreadnought!", TOS Novelization: "The Doomsday Machine", Federation Reference Series, Star Trek Maps, Starfleet Academy Student Handbook, Starfleet Uniform Recognition Manual].
- Hydran civil wars intensify. Much of Minxitith is rendered uninhabitable [Starfleet Battles].

Sarek returns to Vulcan and is officially rewarded the position as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary from Vulcan, to Earth [TOS Giant Novel 4: "Spock's World"].

- The Pleshun Company For Warp Studies develops the "Perth" PB-25 series warp drive system. These engines have a faster dilithium decay rate and a shorter operational life than other contemporary models but provide faster acceleration times between incremental warp factors. Originally intended for use in various defensive classes, such as the "Detroyat" (NCC-1100) class destroyers, they will eventually find their way into fledgling high-speed scout and superscout designs, including the "Podish" (NCC-310) and "Tuverlind" (NCC-341) classes. Cruising velocity is warp 4, maximum velocity is warp 8 [Starfleet Enginery Sheet, U.S.S. Detroyat Class Heavy Destroyer Blueprints].
- Refrigeration fields which produce cold external leakage become outmoded in the U.F.P., being restricted to specialized functions such as long-term storage of biological materials [TOS 65: "Windows on a Lost World"].
- The Vulcans discover the Ordover system and the planet Rakatan [TOS 68: "Firestorm"].
- The Klingons abandon the war against the Tholians.
- Star Fleet disguises a number of warships as merchant vessels in a ploy to draw out the Klingon Empire for another attack. One of these vessels, the U.S.S "Phantom", is fired upon without warning by two Klingon warships in Orion space. The "Phantom" jettisons its dummy cargo pod and engages the Klingon attackers, destroying one and crippling the life support system of the second. A boarding party from the "Phantom" attempts to rescue survivors and gather information, but the Klingons explode their ship to avoid revealing too much, killing all survivors and the rescue party. Without substantive evidence to link the attack to the (largely still mysterious) Klingon government, the U.F.P can take no direct military action. The deceased commanders of the two destroyed Klingon ships are awarded Imperial Commendations, and their lines gain much in status [FASA Roleplaying Guide, Second Edition].
- Sarek is appointed liaison to Freelan although it will be three years until his first voyage to that world or, rather, its orbital space station. The planet is off-limits to aliens. Over the course of the next 3 years, Sarek will take 7 trips [TNG Giant Novel 16: "Sarek"].

- USS GATO tests first successful photon torpedo firing.
- Kzinti sign Peace Accords at "New Oxford".
- The Associates Union Party is created [FASA Roleplaying Guide, Second Edition].
- Hudson's World gains its independence [TOS Giant Novel 7: "Prime Directive"].
- The U.S.S. "Constitution" (NCC-1700) is laid down at Star Fleet Division, San Francisco Yards, Earth [Ships of the Star Fleet].
- Ardana (Mu Leonis) becomes the 19th U.F.P. member [Star Trek Maps].
- Another spaceship disappears in the Taurean region of space, never to be heard from again [TAS: "Lorelei Signal"].
- Following twenty-five years of continuing hostility, the Romulan Neutral Zone is established by the Treaty of Trianguli, negotiated via subspace without any representatives ever meeting face-to-face. No contact will occur between the races for the next fifty years [TOS 35: "The Romulan Way" - Rihannsu #2, TOS: "Balance of Terror", Star Trek 1 - James Blish - Note: Blish's novelization of "Balance Of Terror" contradicts the teleplay, which states that over a century had passed since the war. Duane's novel follows Blish's record of events, including the assertion that the conflict lasted 25 years. Therefore, we must assume that a protracted conflict resumed following the major war and was not conclusively resolved until this time. Negotiation of the treaty was urged by "Ambassador" Sarek. Though not yet Ambassador Plenipotentiary, according to Spock's World he was likely posted to the Vulcan Embassy at this time].
2214, April 11
Vrenn Khemara enrolls in the Klingon Navy. Ruzhe Avell is his roommate. On his first full training cruise he will serve under Squadron Leader Kodon aboard the "Blue Fire" alongside the "Two Fingers" and "Death Hand" (all D4 cruisers) participating in Romulan raids. He earns the rank of Ensign replacing Ensign Kotke at the helm. Shortly thereafter a line dispute results in his captaincy of a small frontier scoutship. Captain Vrenn starts his own line becoming Krenn tai-Rustazh [TOS Novelization: Star Trek The Motion Picture].
2215 SECOND FEDERATION-KZINTI BEGINS

- Kzinti sneak attack sets off Second Federation-Kzinti War. It is later believed that Romulan agitators encouraged the Kzinti commander responsible.
- The Alpha Majoris system is discovered [Star Trek Maps].
- The Nexus temporal energy ribbon again passes through U.F.P. space [Star Trek VII: "Generations"].
- Star Fleet begins work on the development of two different photon torpedoes. One utilizing a simple 1:1 matter/antimatter collision device consisting of frozen deuterium slugs backed up by carbon-carbon disks and driven by microfusion initiators into antideuterium cavities. The other utilizing variable amounts of matter/antimatter in thousands of minute 'packets.' The latter torpedo will not see use for over half a century [The Next Generation Technical Manual].
- The surprising strength of the Back-to-Earth movement creates heated debate on both sides of the issue [Spaceflight Chronology].
- Adrian An'quinsos, an El-Aurian Listener who will later serve on the USS Miranda and USS Galaxy, is born.
2215, September
- Ezekiel Fisher enters Starfleet Academy [Conjecture from TOS Vanguard 1: "Harbinger", "More than 50 years in the service"].

- The Romulans begin their Freelan Plan during this era. They begin to raise a colony of Vulcans on the planet Freelan--Vulcans acquired through pirating, to be utilized for their telepathic abilities. Bred to serve the Romulan Empire, the Vulcans are disguised as shrouded humanoid aliens wanting to establish relations with the United Federation of Planets. In reality, they will be used to telepathically influence U.F.P. members in the hopes of driving a wedge between Vulcan and Earth, and perhaps trigger a war between the U.F.P. and Klingon Empire [TNG Giant Novel 16: "Sarek"].
- The U.F.P. colony on Aberdeen III is found to be completely abandoned under mysterious circumstances.
- Mark Rousseau is born. He will become the youngest starship commander until James Kirk's command of the "Enterprise"
- Sarek, a diplomatic attache at the Vulcan Embassy on Earth, makes his first voyage to Freelan under Ambassador Selden's orders to conduct trade negotiations concerning crysium ore recently discovered on a moon in the Freelan system. Aboard the Freelan space station, Sarek experiences his first pon farr. In the plak tow, Sarek wrestles with Darov, the Freelan representative, unshrouds him, and is the first U.F.P. member to actually view a Freelan. Sarek dismisses his vision of the Vulcan as plaktowi induced hallucination, although Darov is instantly replaced by Taryn. Less than 5 days later, Sarek reaches Vulcan, is married to T'Rea, and (unknowingly) conceives Sybok [TNG Giant Novel 16: "Sarek"].
- Christopher Pike is born - he grows up in Mojave, California [speculation based on age of actor when "The Cage" was filmed (1964) - Mojave reference from TOS: "The Cage"].

The U.S.S. Valiant contacts Eminiar VII. The ship and crew become casualties of the ongoing war between Enimiar and Vendikar [TOS Novelization: "A Taste for Armageddon"].

The U.S.S. "Constitution" (NCC-1700) cruiser is launched [U.S.S. Enterprise Officers Manual, Ships of the Star Fleet, U.S.S. Enterprise Heavy Cruiser Evolution Blueprints]

- The "Constitution" class cruisers are reclassified as heavy cruisers. Note that "Starship Class" designation will by synonymous with this class' type and/or nominal classification for over 70 years [Ships of the Star Fleet, Star Trek IV: "The Voyage Home"].
- The Kzinti win the second Klingo-Kzinti War and regain several planets including the Alnid system [Starfleet Battles].
- The largest spacelift in history evacuates ten million inhabitants from Bayard's Planet. The planet is in the path of the expanding Phi Puma stellar explosion, and the shock wave will destroy it. The spacelift is supervised by Admiral Okuru Nelson aobard the "Mann" class cruiser U.S.S. "Endurance" flagship [Spaceflight Chronology, FASA Roleplaying Guide, Second Edition].
2218 FIRST KLINGON-FEDERATION WAR
- First Klingon-Federation war erupts when USS RANGER (NCC-209) is destroyed.
- Sybok (literally "Seer"), the son of Sarek and T'Rea, is born on Vulcan. His birth will for a time be kept secret from Sarek [Star Trek V: "The Final Frontier", TNG Giant Novel 16: "Sarek"].
- The U.S.S. Sentry meets with the Klingon vessel IKV Devisor [TOS 16: "The Final Reflection", TOS Giant Novel 18: "Federation" - Note: Described as "first contact" between the U.F.P. and the Klingon Empire. This may be the first formal contact with the Federation, although Broken Bow establishes that Klingons had contact with Terrans prior to the founding of the U.F.P. One may assume that this is the incident that touched off fifty years of hostilities according to "Day Of The Dove"].
2218, May 3
The U.S.S. "Constitution" (NCC-1700) heavy cruiser is commissioned. This starship class will total 14 ships and, as other heavy cruisers of similar design are constructed over the next century, this class will be uprated to match the current state-of-the-art technologies. The "Constitution" will be be the first ship to apprehend the smuggler Kojiro Vance, captain of the S.S. "Kobayashi Maru" (ex-"Gas'Tath") in orbit around Ti'Ruben, confiscating the contraband merchant ship. The U.S.S. "Constitution" will also be credited in verifying the existence of the D-7 "Klolode" class Klingon warships "Klothos" ("Carnage," KL 99970) and "Tabor" ("Powerful," KL 85269) on stardate 4517.23, and later the "Marta" ("Corona," ChR 333) in Romulan service on 6348.17. Later on, the U.S.S. "Constitution" will be the first starship to encounter a prototype Klingon "K't'inga" class battlecruiser, "Ykir" ("Usurper," KL 17675) in 2264 near Gamma Canaris and will sustain considerable hull damage. She will later serve as the lead vessel, again, for a new heavy cruiser variant named the "Constitution (II)" class, be recommissioned in 2271 and assigned to Fleet Subquadrant 3 South. The uniform insignia of the U.S.S. "Constitution" may take the form of a circle overlaid upon a horizontal ellipse [U.S.S. Enterprise Heavy Cruiser Evolution Blueprints, Ships of the Star Fleet, S.S. - The "USS Enterprise" is laid down at UESPA in San Francisco Yards on Earth [U.S.S. Enterprise Heavy Cruiser Evolution Blueprints, Ships of the Star Fleet].
- Merak II is colonized [Star Trek Maps].
- Tranquility Park on Luna becomes a holiday resort [TOS Giant Novel 7: "Prime Directive"].

Theta VII becomes the 500th member of the U.F.P. The Federation is becoming so large that only major grievances can be dealt with properly, a source of concern among some members [FASA Roleplaying Guide, Second Edition, Spaceflight Chronology].

- USS Koryu (NCC-239) defends Aeolious VII colony from Klingon attack.
- T'Rea, High Master, begins to speak out against the imbalance of Surak's teachings of nonemotion on Vulcan. She learns of the ancient legend of Sha Ka Ree from the katras enshrined in the Hall of Ancient Thought [Star Trek V: "The Final Frontier"].
- T'Rea ascends to be High Master of Gol and divorces Sarek [TNG Giant Novel 16: "Sarek"].
- Following the death of Drech't or Hanif Wafiyy, the new leadership of the Neyel declare themselves absolute rulers over the planet Oghen [Star Trek Lost Era 1: "The Sundered"].
- Dr. Richard Daystrom is born [24 years before inventing duotronics - TOS: "Ultimate Computer"].

- Commodore van Anling tells Robert April that he will be the first captain of the "Enterprise." Over the next year, April will oversee the assembly of the starship and consult with her chief construction engineer, Franz Joseph IV, on her internal configuration [Star Trek: Log 7, TAS: "The Counter-Clock Incident"].
- Skorpios/Kanaris E.T.M. is contracted to develop plans for both destroyer and scout type starships utilizing components developed for the "Constitution" class starships [Federation Reference Series].
- The beautiful, exotic water world Hydra II is discovered by the U.S.S. "Poseidon," "Mann" class cruiser, in Sector 16C. It is the first and last time the planet is not inundated with Federation personnel on R & R [Spaceflight Chronology].

Federation forces Kzinti to sign Treaty of Axamar, ending Second Fed-Kzinti war.

- To celebrate 50 years in business, the Cultural Exchange Project throws a Federation-wide fair that will be long remembered [FASA Roleplaying Guide, Second Edition].
- A christening projectile is perfectly aligned and fired to intercept the "Enterprise" in exactly 2 weeks, 4 days, and 16 hours.
2220, July SECOND LYRAN-KZINTI WAR BEGINS
- The U.S.S. "Enterprise" (NCC-1701) is launched from Earth. Captain Robert April takes her out on a shakedown cruise, following her christening by the U.F.P.'s President Samuel Solomon Qasr. The "Enterprise's" First Officer is Shundresh, Chief Engineer is Kursley, Navigator is Lt. Po, and her Helmsman is Lt. Nobis [Star Trek Log 7, [Ships of the Star Fleet, U.S.S. Enterprise Heavy Cruiser Evolution Blueprints, The Making of Star Trek, Starfleet Handbooks]
- Captain Krenn in command of the I.K.V. "Fencer" captures a Willall ship. Analysis of the captured starship will give the Klingons dilithium-focused warp drive. Captain Krenn is later ordered to serve as an ambassador to the U.F.P., a long-duration voyage of over a year [TOS 16: "The Final Reflection"].
- The Second Lyran-Kzinti War begins when a Kzinti strike cruiser destroys a Lyran exploration ship. The Lyrans claim a moral outrage over the attack, but ignore the fact that their "exploration ship" was exploring Kzinti territory for new colony sites [Starfleet Battles].

- On September 8, the U.S.S. "Farragut" (NCC-1702) "Constitution" class heavy cruiser is laid down at Star Fleet Division, Puget Sound Yards, Earth [Ships of the Star Fleet, U.S.S. Enterprise Heavy Cruiser Evolution Blueprints]
- On September 13, The U.S.S. "Lexington" (NCC-1703) "Constitution" class heavy cruiser is laid down at Star Fleet Division, Puget Sound Yards, Earth [Ships of the Star Fleet, U.S.S. Enterprise Heavy Cruiser Evolution Blueprints]

- On January 3, the U.S.S. "Excalibur" (NCC-1705) "Constitution" class heavy cruiser is laid down at Star Fleet Division, San Francisco Yards, Earth [Ships of the Star Fleet, U.S.S. Enterprise Heavy Cruiser Evolution Blueprints]
- On January 5, the U.S.S. "Enterprise" (NCC-1701) heavy cruiser is commissioned with two (4680 TEV rarium) laser banks, monotronic computers, and a complement of 403. Captain Robert T. April takes her out on her first deep-space mission: galaxy exploration and investigation, beginning with the patrol of the 9th quadrant, from Alpha Centauri to the outer Pinial Galaxy limit. Captain April's "Enterprise" officers at this stage may consist of: Chief Engineer Charles Fourrier, Communications Officer Karen Van Fleet, Helmsman Luis Ferarra, Science Officer Gregor Allinsky, and Medical Officer Sarah April. Easily the most famous "Constitution" class starship, in her long service life she will be commanded by Captains Pike, Kirk, and Spock before her self-destruction in 2287. Her normal patrol zone will eventually be Fleet Subquadrant 3 South throughout most of her service life. A residence hull will honor the "Enterprise's" name at the First Fleet Star Fleet Academy. The "Enterprise" might be the first ship to utilize the classic arrowhead uniform insignia. - The Kzinti Duke decides that he is the most qualified successor to the patriarchial throne, despite the fact that the current Patriarch is still very much alive. The Kzinti Civil War breaks out and the Duke, known hereafter as the Usurper, comes out on the losing end of the very bloody civil war. Pursued by the victorious Patriarch, the Usurper leads the ragged survivors of his fleet to the edge of the WYN Cluster (a vast 50-parsec diameter highly radioactive dust cloud where the Klingon, Lyran, and Kzinti borders meet, believed to be uninhabited) and plunges directly into it; better to die than be taken prisoner. The Usurper survives. The radioactive clouds composing the Cluster are discovered to be a relatively thin shell, but only by driving into them at a suicidal warp 5 can even this brief exposure be tolerated. Given up for dead by his race, the Usurper secretly begins constructing a society within the cluster. It is later revealed to the Patriarch that the Romulans had given the Usurper some support and encouragement.

- The Frax, a race of humanoids inhabiting the Kaltic Free States (staunch Klingon allies in the uppermost reaches of the Klingon Empire, basically a Klingon Protectorate ), obtain their "freedom" this year. That is, the right to maintain the Frax fleet in defense of their States and the Klingon Empire. This allows the Klingon Northern Fleet to pull back to some extent as the Frax construct their own. The Kaltic States are nothing more than a buffer between to the Klingons and the Kzinti, a fact which still did not prevent wars. With the Frax purchasing a the cloaking device from Orion pirates, Frax frigate submarines are launched this year. Submarines are cloaked starships which can actually fire a drone missile while cloaked. This technology developed by the Frax, will never be obtained by any other race, including the Klingons (though many political and covert attempts will be made, the Klingons have no desire to anger their satellite states by force of arms).
- The Orions begin operating LR class Blockade Runners, the first true pirate ships able to double their engine output, featuring stealth technology and suicide bombs. The Orions Cartels also commence the policy of disavowing privateers under their Lettres of Marque who are actually caught [FASA Roleplaying Guide, Second Edition].
- Federation victory at Lyisik VIII ends First Federation-Klingon War. Klingon Neutral Zone is set up and patrolled.
- Spock undergoes the kahs-wan ritual [TAS: "Yesteryear"].

- Klingon activities near the Federation border decrease drastically during this period, with few Klingon warships seen and the number of routine confrontations dropping by more than 70 percent. -The largest space rescue in history occurs when the U.S.S. "Deerslayer" ("Voyager" class starship commanded by Captain Roger Trautmann) recovers the 600 passengers and crew of the S.S. - Richard Daystrom makes the Duotronic breakthrough, for which he will be awarded the Nobel and Z. Magnees prizes [TOS: "The Ultimate Computer"].
-The D-4A "D'ama" ("Predator") class cruiser enters service in the Klingon Fleet. The predecessor of the famed D-7 class, it pioneers the commandpod-forward design which will later become the standard for most modern Klingon warships. - The Fourth Gorn-Romulan War ends. The Gorns have gained some territory.

- Dr. Thomas Scott constructs 7 separate field generators to simulate the Klingon multiship field system and disproves the Perera Theory that photon torpedoes would detonate when placed at the junction points. - Kelvar Garth of Iza is the leading graduate of the Star Fleet Academy and will rise to become the leading Star Fleet tactician and military expert during the Four Years War. He will be promoted to the rank of Fleet Captain after the Four Years War and replace Christopher Pike as being in charge of "Constitution" class vessels. Later he will receive command of the U.S.S. "Lexington" (NCC-1703) and while serving as a diplomatic representative of the U.F.P. to the planet Antos IV, will be burned and disfigured by an exploding power plant on the planet's surface. Garth is taught the secret of molecular metamorphosis by the Antosians allowing him to alter his form. The accident accelerates Garth's mental collapse resulting in paranoia and megalomania which almost causes the destruction of the Antosian people when Garth attempts to use the "Lexington's" firepower to destroy his benefactors,and committed to Elba II Mental Isolation and Criminal Rehab facility [FASA Roleplaying Guide, Second Edition].
- Physicist Richard Daystrom shares a Nobel Prize with William Abramson for their revolutionary computer theory with duotronics, which processes information concerning every atom in the galaxy. - The Demon War ends with a whimper instead of a bang. A state of prolonged but stalemated hostility exists between the two races, with no end in sight. It is almost three years before the Klingon military presence along the borders with the U.F.P. and the Romulan Star Empire is back to its pre-war strength, though the Demon War did see the introduction of several new ship designs [FASA Roleplaying Guide, Second Edition].
